Hello everybody,
I have the new 2008 Spring Supplement Catalog in front of me and am looking at the back cover page.
Shown are 4 figures of the upcoming (in fall I think) AWI releases, General George Washington, his staff, allies and bodyguard.
First of all I want to say that the photo itself is the best one I have seen yet in any Britains catalog.
Looking at the sculpting and painting of the shown figures, they do look different from any previous releases. Much, much better.
Is this the start of a totally new standard (quality and price)?
Maybe Richard or Ken can help us out here.
Or is it just me and wishful thinking ?

Richard told me a bit about these in Milwaukee in April. They will be packaged in window front boxes and they do look amazing in real life. I don't recall if he said anything about future releases along these lines but certainly would not be surprised.

Can someone please post a picture of the new AWI figures as featured on the back of the 2008 Spring Supplement?

Treefrog will you be updating your website of Britians catalogues area to include this newest supplement? if so when could I expect to see it?

Thanks in advance for everyones help.

That was a teaser photo and I have a hunch there won't be on any of the sites until the September catalog comes out. Perhaps Ken has some photos to share?

Here is the photo Dave took at Paul's shop

Wow! You really did a great job lightening that up Randy. Thanks. I was going to re-post that one, but decided it was a bit too dark.

They've been scanned for weeks, along with the 1984 catalog and are just waiting to be uploaded. Pete was quite sick for a week and a half a few weeks ago and has been scrambling to catch up with things ever since. I'll remind him.

Thank you for reposting the earlier picture. However, I was wanting to see the picture on the back of the new Britians catalog as well. The first person to post in this thread was describing the paint job as being better. I had seen the picture of them on the shelf and they had looked great, just hoping for more details.

It sounds like Treefrog will be posting the catalog picture soon.

Thanks again for reposting the earlier picture.

Hello King's Man
below you see some pictures from the backside of the last catalog, the one I was refering to.
These pictures are the best I can come up with and hopefully they show what I meant to say.

That's what I call CHANGE!...no reference to BHO's political campaign theme. I just hope they will be consistent in their sculpture. I may consider buying this line.

These figures look superb. I wonder if this is the new standard for Britains matte figures:p.

WOW!! These new figures do look exciting. Seeing this picture has convinced me to join the Britain’s Collector Club so I can get my own catalogues. Thank you for posting these fine pictures.

I believe this is the new standard for many of the forthcoming WB figures. In addition to the AWI personality figures these currently include the Napoleonic personality figures and the Museum Collection series (examples below). Richard says that all of these figures will come in the new specially designed museum display box that can be used to show off your soldiers and keep them dust free. This will allow brick & mortar stores to show them to their customers without taking them out of the boxes.

You hit both nails on the head - the sculpting size, style, detail etc. will all be completely consistent with the matte figures we have done over the last 3 years - consistency is key. That said the paint detail will be taken up a notch - not so much so that they will not fit with what has come before but enough that those who look closely and know will certainly see the difference.

Have a great weekend,

Richard

Sounds great, Richard,
thank you for your input.
I am sure a lot of collectors will have their eyes on the upcoming releases.
Looking forward to them.

Now approaching the Russians in quality.

Prost!
Bradley

Hello all,
I am new to the Treefrog forum and very excited to hear you like the Yorktown set. I will take the Baron's comment as a great compliment. The Russian painters are a benchmark to attain. I am the painter who did the master figures you see on the back of the catalog.
The figures were an absolute dream to paint and very rich in detail. Look for more exciting (and punched up quality) painted sets in the future from Britains.
Best Regards,
-Ralph

Welcome to the forum Ralph, and thanks for making Britains figures even better than they have been.
