Upcoming War Movies (1 Viewer)

MOSBY2:

Roland Emmerich (INDEPENDENCE DAY) is developing a Battle of Midway movie.

OVERLORD---JJ Abrams said this World War II D-Day movie about US paratroopers encountering supernatural forces in a French village is Bad Robot's first R-rated movie. Abrams said the movie is not part of the Cloverfield series.
Movie writers who saw a film clip said it has graphic scenes including "a grenade exploding in someone's mouth" and "Set against the backdrop of D-Day, a squad of soldiers stumble upon a Nazi bunker with some real *****, including a French woman's decapitated head asking for help."

Tom Hanks is the star/director of GREYHOUND, based on the CS Forester novel THE GOOD SHEPHERD about an older commander of a destroyer in World War II.

Hanks is the co-star/executive producer of Dale Dye's NO BETTER PLACE TO DIE movie about 82nd Airborne paratroopers defending a key bridge after D-Day (the real story of the end of SAVING PRIVATE RYAN).

The Hanks/Spielberg/HBO miniseries The MIGHTY EIGHTH is underway (about the Eighth Air Force in WW II).

Ridley Scott is developing a Battle of Britain movie.

A PT 109 movie is underway (not a remake of the Cliff Robertson movie).

The Peter Jackson remake of THE DAM BUSTERS is on hold.

The remake of ICE STATION ZEBRA has been long-gestating.

There was a movie underway based on the true story of US and German troops teaming up to save French prisoners in a castle vs the SS, but I haven't heard anything lately.

A movie starring Gerard Butler about a US sub taking a SEAL team to free a kidnapped Russian president is underway---I can't remember the title.

The PANZER 88 horror movie appears to be dead.

Also, see my post about "Marines vs Roman Empire".

There is a movie coming about the Battle of Long Tan, Australia's biggest fight in the Vietnam War. It'll star Travis Flimmel, of Vikings fame. It's called 'Danger Close'.

Pegasus Bridge, staring Rupert Penry-Jones, is in pre-production about the British glider attack on D-Day. I think I'd prefer to see it called 'Dead-stick' the operation code-name. It was set to go but the messed around by Brexit and the currency slide. It's being touted as a British Band of Brothers.

I think the film 'Citizen Soldiers about the US 28th Division in the Battle of the Bulge is slipping away.

Great to hear the promising news about 'No Better Place to Die' - I've been keen on that one for years!
