I was surprised and excited to see the new WB Waterloo figures coming our way . The Royal dragoon vignettes and the LONG AWAITED French Fusiliers . I have not added much to my 54mm Napoleonic collections in the last year or so other than some kits I painted and the The Dragoons which for a Waterloo enthusiast are a must.
These new sets and multiples of the Fusiliers are something to look forward to. I'll have to either quit collecting 54mm Waterloo , or add another 4x6' section to my table. No doubt the latter.

Hey... add the extra 4 x 6 to the table,

you can't skimp on a Waterloo Battlefield, as that's important history :)

I agree. I can't wait to see the new French Fusiliers and hope WB have them displayed at the London show in December.
But it's the British Royal Draoons sets that look like a real show stopper.
The death of Ponsonby and the capture of the 105th eagle sets are exceptional.
My display is dominated by Scots Greys at the moment so these Dragoons will make a great adition but like you it's finding the space.
Nice problem to have though.
Paul:)

Paul,

I take it that you will be there at the London Show? If so it would be good to meet you as I'm picking up the 3rd Lancers and the Dragoons from Ken at Maison Militaire. I've also pre-ordered the new vignettes and the French Fusiliers (hopefully there will be a fair few of them).

Best wishes

Andy

Hi Andy,
Yes I'll be there all beling well. I never miss a London toy soldier show.
I'm not sure what I'm buying there yet there is just so much I want.
We will have to meet up and have a chat.
Cheers

I realy like the Ponsonby set might have to get that one!....The set has a 3rd lancer doing the killing or was it realy a 4th lancer?
The movie {Waterloo} had a Polish lancer but from the books i have it was a French line Lancer 3rd or 4th.

Yes I believe it was the 4th Lancers that did for poor old Ponsonby.
The producers and director probably thought Polish lancers would look better.

I love the Battle of Waterloo film although it is full of historical inaccuracies.

I read somewhere that the original film is over four hours long and that the Napoleonic society or some organisation are trying to track down the lost footage so that the whole film can be seen.

I would love to sit through four hours of the battle of Waterloo.

I would also like to see someone do an accurate re-make before (or for) the 200th anniversary of the battle in 2015 but that is unlikely due to the cost.

I'll settle for Britain's latest Waterloo releases for now.

Be great if the missing footage could be added even that would be better then a new movie.
Which probably would be to CG for me!.....they used fifteen thousand Russian extras on the 1970 film cant beat real people :smile2:

Yes I totally agree. Real people every time.
CG is okay for the fantasy films but not historical battles.
That's probably why a re-make is not on the cards. It would cost too much.:(

As a reenactor I will play in the film for free*!
