This conversion is the XM734 Mounted Infantry Combat Vehicle as tested during the Vietnam War by the US Army. It was not totally successful but it did lead to future designs.

RPGs were nasty but 75mm RCLs were worse. Operation Bribie against D445 VC Battalion and some regular attached NVA. Callsign 21B was retiring to the rear to the dustoff point with a load of wounded infantrymen of 6 RAR. It was hit by two RCL rounds. Driver KIA and Crew Commander and 3 diggers on board sustained wounds from molten metal fragments.
