USS Oak Hill (LSD 51) to be open for public tours over the weekend
" Gloucester, Mass. — The amphibious assault ship USS OAK HILL (LSD 51) will conduct free general public visiting on Saturday and Sunday, June 24-25 on a first-come, first- served basis. The tours will be conducted between Noon and 4 p.m. both days. Each tour will last approximately one hour. Tours will depart from the USCG pier starting at 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
All visitors to the ship will be screened and are subject to search. NO weapons, purses, bags of any kind, or drinking containers will be allowed. Photographs of all tour spaces will be permitted.
The ship is not handicapped accessible. Due to the number of steep ladders and ramps required to tour the ship and because of her limited emergency medical capabilities, people with heart conditions, breathing difficulties or other medical conditions will not be permitted to board. Minimum age to tour the vessel is 10."
So we just went down to the harbor and shot some photos.....
