Hi all

Just a little thread in order to raise awareness about how destructive to your collection UV rays can be.
We all know that UVs will fade any color over time (acrylics, oils, etc.) so we should always avoid sunlight hitting directly our figures. And let's not forget artificial lighting since halogen, fluorescent and incandescent lights also emit UV radiation with the former being the main culprit.
So now, how do you protect your precious collection ?
Normal glass will block around 40-50% of UVs but that's not enough.. I suggest investing in UV filters applied either directly to your windows or to the glass of your cabinets.

cheers

Good point.

I have a cabinet near a door and had covered the sides to stop sunshine coming in from that side. Just re arranged that display and must remember to cover that side again.

Sorry - I dusted that one - did I let in the light?

Would LED lighting offer any advantages, preservation-wise, over the more traditional types?

Interesting....but concerning some items it' s good if the colours fade.... {sm4}
