Thanks for you input. However, I think that the figure is just walking over uncut grass as in a Hollywood movie and I wanted to create a slightly more bushy patch of ground to represent jungle terrain.
I take your point that too much foliage would obscure the figure so I'll go easy on the additional foliage.

That's a lot of foliage. Probably too much for my Grunt on a small base.

I added a brass plate to my Geisha piece.

I added a sling to the M-60 gun. Painted a 1st Cav Div patch and added the foliage.
