Very sad (1 Viewer)

That is definitely an odd one. Doesn't seem to make much sense. I remember years ago there was a Ku Klux Klan leader who was revealed to be Jewish, who then promptly committed suicide.

The world has been and will probably always be a strange and peculiar place, capable of producing both a Brahms and a Hitler, a Dostoevsky and a Stalin.

It is especially sad if you are a Russian Jew. I mean the Nazis did their level best to wipe out both the Russians and the Jews. Both groups of people were subhuman according to the Nazis.

Sad Sad

It could be a question of them being a younger generation and we know how memory is short.

I guess it takes all kinds to be a Nazi. But how dumb can you get. Join a group dedicated to wiping you out.

I suppose you have to be dumber than the average Nazi and that says a lot. You patrol around Tel Aviv and surround an Israeli and start shouting Are You Jewish. The next stop is midnight Mass at the Vatican. Surround that man in robes riding in the car with clear windscreens and shout Are you Catholic. We have ways and means of finding out:D
Dumb but still sad

The best thing to do with a Nazi is, just ignore it. They will come to their own end, it is sad that they are still around.Mike:(

Even in Russia today they have a lot of Neo-Nazis groups. The same in Brazil we have some of German descents who started to attack gay people.

Interesting that a few years ago in Sao Paulo (Brazil) there was a group of Neo Nazis composed by the Black people:eek: I think that they choose the name Nazis to promote violence, but they don’t even know the meaning of the word they choose from!

Cheers:)

I think that they should teach the history of the Nazis all the way through school from Primary, to Secondary, they should teach how they came to power, but focus more on the terrible things they done, and why it was the sickest organisation in history.

I think if you teach younger kids about the Holocaust and other things that the Nazis done, at an early stage in their schooling, then as they get older, they will be more aware of how sickening, and wrong the Nazi Party was, and not want anything to do with them ever.

Young fella,

You are wise beyond your years. Excellent post, and further evidence of the postulate that Toy Soldier collectors tend more towards the exceptional.

Scott,
When I was a child I devoured books related to WW2 (and still do), especially those dealing with the rise and fall of the Nazi's. It was nothing to do with admiration for the 3rd Reich - absolutely the opposite in fact. I couldn't understand why or how such an evil could possibly have existed. Or how human beings could bring themselves to commit the atrocities the Nazi's carried out. This led me to my profound belief that the 3rd Reich was without a doubt the most monsterous political system ever imposed on man in recent history.
I think that an interest in history leads to an interest in toy soldiers - and vise versa. Anything that encourages us to study the mistakes of the past is to be applauded. Unfortunatey, those mistakes continue to be repeated. IMO, we in the western world have failed to grasp the opportunity to make the world a better place, despite the sacrifices of WW2.
I'm not talking PC here. Just common, basic decency towards all the other people in the world. That's probably the reason why I tend to get along very well with people of different races, creeds, religious beliefs, etc.
I sincerly hope that through your involvement in this hobby and your interest in history, you continue to hold the same opinons as you expressed in your excellent post. Just please remember, there's no such thing as 100% good or 100% bad, we're all just people - with the notable exception of the Nazi's.

Best Regards

I believe that there is little excuse other than total ignorance for being a Nazi in the modern world. I will point out, though, that I notice a trend among my peers. In High School, people feel the need to align themselves with illogical idealogies--why? I don't know. Though (thank god) there are no declared Nazis in my school, we have several avowed communists who praise Fidel Castro. Once again, I think it is a matter of total ignorance--in the end, they just make fools of themselves.

You're right--the lesson to be learned from the rise of the Nazis needs to be taught in school. In fact, real history, and not politically correct feel-good stories of no consequence, needs to be taught in school. In a democracy, people need to get what's going on!
