Some Marines were based off shore on Helicopter Carriers such as the USS Valley Forge from where they were taken on operations.

You certainly nailed the background Steve. All very realistic. Robin.

Yes, Steve is one of the best in selecting and merging backdrops with foreground terrain, figures and/or vehicles etc.

Very nice Steve. My research shows that Marine helicopter operations were limited, compared to Army ones. At the height of the War, the Marines operated 340 helicopters whereas the US Army operated around 4,000.

Great job!

So realistic and as Andy said, you blended everything so perfectly.

Thanks for sharing this.

Cheers Robin, best I can hope for Helicopter wise, of course a 1.30 scale UH34 would be great, but out of my pocket and no where to keep it anyway !

I'm sure when you do your diorama, it'll be fantastic as your Tarawa one is already !

Thanks Brad, Yep even though they call it the Helicopter War, there was never enough to go around and from what I've read the Marines seemed the last to get what there was and had to work with older equipment. Of course they could borrow the use of US Army helicopters from time to time when the Army had a bit of slack
But still never enough.

You nailed it, Steve! :smile2: Once again, well done!

Cheers

Enrico

Thanks Enrico. Have to admit using a photo off the internet gives us so much more choice for backdrops to scenes and really help to explain a scene / tell a story.

Excellent diorama! I really like the blend of real history into your presentation.
