I really liked the old Conte Viking raiding sets, would like to see JJ expand their Viking sets to do a new series of Vikings raging and pillaging.

I have a few of the vignette sets with a monk fighting a Viking and another with a Viking chasing a monk. They are great sets. Some buildings would be awesome too

I have some of those sets (& the 2 Jason has) and love them.
If JJD made them they would have done everything Conte did plus much more...
Except a Norman Keep...
Ha! And so the collectors collect on.
Best Wishes All,
If I don't post alot my dog is very sick so I'll come back soon.
The Chicago Show may be a no-go.
But let's not be sad! Dad & I have Aztecs/Spaniards/"Tlaxies" in the "larder" and more on order so... There is good and bad in everything, in every moment. So let us make it as good as we can.

Paddy,

I hope your dog gets well. Its really tough when a dog you love gets sick, you love them like a child.

Regards,

Louis

Thanks so much Louis. Great to see you and your son and all on a fantastic trip.
I won't hijack this thread so let's just say I'll post a small memorial of my mini-schnauzer soon. The later the better for me, despite the stress.
Personally, I prefer toy soldier pictures! But life has it all.
Best Wishes to All & especially to all who are sick or have a sick loved-one.
Toy soldiering will still go on.
Now that's soldiering!
Cheers while we can,
Paddy for the Pats (Dad loves our dog at least as much).

I got a lot of the Conte stuff at the time including Saxon Village and Stamford Bridge play sets, longboat and most of the early Conte metal figures and later Valhalla Awaits sets. I got rid of the Stamford Bridge play set and plastic figures but kept the Village buildings, longboat and metal figures and glad I did. As for the JJD Viking offerings I have a few recent acquisitions (and have ordered 6 from this months releases) but concentrated more on Saxons/Normans from John as I feel I have enough Vikings. One area that Richard Conte showed a little too much artistic license was with Viking siege equipment when it was known these guys were no good at siege warfare. I did get TM Terrain to build me a small Saxon Burh, walled town, as the centerpiece of my collection and to keep those Viking raiders at bay.

It sure is--and wow, love the buildings !
The cheaper play set items of a few years ago are invaluable if you want to enhance the display value of your collection. Just whish I had a few more.
