Hi all, I bought this Del Prado figure "Viking Warrior, Norway c. 872" at the recent London show. He was in a box of assorted loose Del Prado figures.

( He has a few easily remedied paint chips but he was a bargain! )

I thought he was quite an exceptional figure and really stood out from the rest of the figures. - a much higher quality sculpt and paint work.

Could anyone give me any details as to why? and - has Del Prado done any more of this era in the same quality?

Cheers, Roy.

I'm trying to buy this figure for a reasonable price on ebay, i know there is another Viking (you can find it on TF , it's from a later period). There's also an anglo-saxon and a few norman...i love these del Prado figures, recently i bought 3 , an english archer from Crecy, a Southern French Crossbowman and a Flemish Infantryman. In my opinion the foot figures are better painted than the horse ones.Really like their pose and "character" , they reproduce illustrations from Osprey books, mainly from the great Angus Mc Bride & Gerry Embleton.

Thanks very much for all the info - very kind of you!

Del Prado has very variable quality from item to item, I think because made by different manufacturers and because they are cheap so that no all items are well done. I think only one viking was done, but you can find other medieval del prados from different nations.
Here other nice del prados:

Many thanks for the info and pics. I did not realise that the figures were made by different manufacturers!

Toshiie Maeda (the samurai in the picture with the golden helm) in my opinion is one of the best figure you can buy for a few dollars .Really well sculpted and painted, maybe because is one of the early releases of the Samurai range(but is present in the medieval series too). Some DP figures have nothing to envy to other brands.
