Vikings, Saxons and Normans (1 Viewer)

Hi guys, I did a post today about some of the different brands of medieval figures that go well together. It about both plastic and painted metal figures. Thanks for reading, Mike.

Mike;

Thank you for the link !
Since I collect many of the figures you talk about, it was an interesting read.

I agree on the TSSD "Barbarians", they are a little large, however some of them are great figures...I took the Female, left-handed archer from that set, cut down her base substantially, and put her with the Barzso Robin Hood character figures as a 'Maid Marian'.

Great information in that link, gives one lots of options on the different brands to collect. A very interesting period in history. Regards Greg.

Your welcome, I figured this might help somebody save some money by not buying some brands of different Vikings. I forgot to put that the A Call To Arms Normans are too small to use with the Conte figures. I have two groups of Medieval figures, first the old Marx Vikings, Airfix medieval foot soldiers, Accurate knights, plus some other brands and now the A Call to Arms Normans. The Conte, Barzso, Pvblivs toy soldiers fit in the other group. I will take a look at the other TSSD figures, I was wondering if the new ones are smaller. From the pictures that I have seen on the internet they look thinner than the first set that was made. I could make one of the taller TSSD like Ivar the boneless, they say he was a giant ;) Or other sources say he was a cripple, and he was carried on a shields to the battlefield. That would look cool if you could convert 4 figures holding up the shields and then have Ivar sitting on top of those shooting his bow.

Thanks, I didn't have any resources when I went out looking for what figures to get and what not to get. I can't wait to see what else W. Britain comes out next year. I wonder if they will have some villages or peasants for a village. I think they will come out with some cottages next year, wonder if they will come out with a Longship in the future? The Dark Ages is very interesting to me, I also have the Total War Attila video game and the Age of Charlemagne dlc is really fun to play.
