Does anyone out there still collect the vintage Britains (pre-1966)? If so, does anyone have any sets that they are looking to sell or dispose off?

Vectis Auctions usually feature huge volumes of the pre-1966 Britains. Sometimes it's best to keep your powder dry and then pounce on the live auction itself, as sometimes the "trophy" sets take up disproportionate time, attention and financial resources. Don't forget though that Vectis charge a hefty buyer's premium on the hammer price, and going via eBay is equally financially painful. Still though for some items which have passed under the electronic gaze of thousands of people it is often remarkable at how reasonable some of the prices can be.
Have a look at a modest auction due in September:

I'm sure the Britains die-hards here can give you a list of the 100+ online retailers who often sustain a local or regional secondary market.

Best of luck

Thanks fort he input -- I have tried vectis -- but your right there's a 20% buyer's premium on all sets.

Hi,

I collect them when I can afford it and like everyone else I dont like Vectis for their buyers premimum and some other reasons but I would also suggest you try ebay and the folks over at MKL Models in Great Britain. They have a section of their catalogue that is dedicated to the older sets. They can be found on the web at:

Very nice people and they may have some other sites you can check out.

Good luck!
Dave
