Gentlemen and Ladies if there are any,

I joined this forum and Canadian Toy Soldiers forum, seeking help and information regarding my particular interest in collecting, which is renovating Vintage Childrens Toy Soldiers. By that I mean restoring, repainting and where necesary recasting heads, weapons etc for old Lead Childrens Toy Soldiers which, at least in the UK means pre 1966. I do not mean enhancing, but returning them to original 'as sold' condition, this in itself demands research into how they would have looked before a lifetime of abuse from small boys followed by years of neglect at the bottom of some box in a dusty attic. I have seen very few post relating to this speciality, but I am sure that there must be others with similar interests, thus I ask the forum as a whole and the site owner and moderators in particular if it is worth dedicating a thread to Vintage Childrens Toy Soldiers?

Regards to all,

John T

Its an interesting and enjoyable part of things,I had a brief home business restoring Britains,,dimestore soldiers etc,,A part of my collection is restored old soldiers being the economics of collecting,,i once brought back hundreds of casualties for a collector friend including a set of very early lancers, after purchasing every old soldier or body part possible i now have work for the next seventy years.a lot of contrversy about restorations,,also a lot of satisfaction.

I would be really interested to see the work you do posted here on the forum. I believe there are tons of people on here who would really enjoy that as well- fire away !! :)

What a compliment,,to you sir,,the work goes on,,the craftsman doesnt.,,There are threads here regarding BOB walker,,a proper gentleman with an incredible home and collection,,at one time he owned Vallhala miniatures,,extremly fine replica castings of vintage Britons and very important,,repair parts down to and incuding mules ears -left and right. While my work has slowed a bit lately and I bagged my business-Redoubt miniatures,,I very much enjoy pouring over trays of wounded troops with that classic, worn paint,,headless,,horse leg missing, arm off patina....Best to all of us vintage children

Does anyone carry spare parts and castings for vintage Britains ? Most of my sources have dried up.

Hey, I think you bought some figures from me recently. My eBay id is classictoysnyc.

When you can, please post some photos of what you're up to.

We'd love to see!
