I have just aquired a fair quantity of vintage Britains lead soldiers, vehicles, planes, cowboys & indians as well as a fair few catalogues (some Britains but also Hornby, Meccano etc.).

Although I have catalogued them all, I have no idea as to their value. Some are in excellent condition and appear quite old - they have moveable arms. The paintwork on some is obviously repainted but all waepons are intact and the cowboys for example still have their lassos.

Does anyone have any idea where I should start? I was thinking about putting some on e-bay but not knowing values thought I should get some sort of advice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.:)

Do you have any pictures of your items? That would certainly help in identifying the sets and giving you a rough guide to price. If you are selling on Ebay price goes right out the window as things sell for crazy prices at times.

to Jinnyj- go to the Britains Glossy under Glossy Figure by manufacturer further down page. members such as Dickbuttons are of great help. he sent me to www.vectis.co.uk/auclist.php for price guidelines. it was very useful.--lancer

Thanks - I have taken pics but I will need to get help to upload them (not v PC competent!). Will post some tomorrow.

Since you live in the UK, I can only suggest that you also visit the Vectis site on line. Prices for Britains are usually higher in the UK than in the US, If you search the various sets you have under the Vectis site, you will be able to get a decent idea as to the range in value of your pieces. if you need any further inforamtion, feel free to contact me.

The Vectis search site can be found at:

Good luck,
Dick
