Last night was the W. Britains Collectors’ Club event in London and it was great to see Ken and the team talking about all things toy soldiers. This is the fourth one I have been to and it is always a great affair; there is even a raffle where everyone is a winner !!!

The event is held at the London Scottish Regiment and is an amazing building and museum

As an AZW collector it was even better, as the Exclusive figure for the event was a 24th Foot figure

Ken showed some sculpts for the 2019 Collectors Club Figures; a really good range covering diverse periods. As a AZW collector there is a Zulu figure coming out who is on the receiving end of the figure above. For those who collect the Tel-el-Kiber there will be a 42nd piper figure.

Ken showcased a wide range of new sculpts covering so many lines:

Wrath of Northmen included some Normans. One with a mace looked great; they will have foot and mounted.
N. American – glossy figures and Minden
USMC / Japanese in the pacific; USMC in Vietnam (Hue) and USMC in Belleau Wood WW1 –the sculpts looked great especially USMC firing shotguns. They do a lot of work with the USMC to ensure the

Lots of new WW2 Germans with Grey coats and the animation of the running figures was seriously impressive.

Ken’s passion for accuracy is commendable; WB arrange for staff / volunteers to wear orginal clothing and handle weapons so they can sculpt the figure correctly.

There was an interesting talk from a former RAF fast jet pilot who went on to fly the Lancaster Bomber for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. There was also a model kit (not WB) for a 1/32 Lancaster that was very impressive.

There was a silent auction with some great WW1 diorama scenes; the ones with poppies were very good. You can see them on their FB page.

In terms of delivery they discussed the issues but more importantly they have 20+ figures arriving pre-Christmas that are on the water; the Collectors Club figures will arrive soon via airfreight. Another batch of figures will arrive in early 2019 – hopefully dispatched before Chinese New Year. They have 100+ figures coming to clear the back log / new items including the 88mm!!! They know soldiers in hand are the way to keep collectors / dealers happy and I will look forward to getting the new AZW figures next year.

Good news for collectors. Thank you for the update and the photos Gazza.

Were the Minden figures new sculpts, or were those the conversions Ken did as an auction item? He posted photos in the WBritain Facebook page, of a group of Redcoats castings he modified and finished to depict the Minden regiments. I didn't think they were going to be new figures in production, though; I took it to be a one-off, just for the auction.

Prost!

Hi Brad

The Minden figures at the event were ones that Ken modified. Hopefully there will be more coming!

Sorry no; they were slides on Ken's presentation. There are numerous units planned; very colourful range of uniforms pre-WW1

Thanks, Dave, that's what I thought.

From the info Ken posted on Facebook, I doubt there will be more. These were apparently a one-off set for the auction. They aren't any new figures, that is, new poses, but existing castings from the Redcoat line. To make them Minden regiments, he added the roses, and painted them in appropriate colors.

But yeah, I'd like to see him expand the gloss Redcoat line to include other regiments than the ones previously done. I wish he'd add some cavalry from the Seven Years War, too-some each of Horse, dragoons, and light dragoons. I tease him about it, when I see him. But with so many other little projects he has going, I'm not holding my breath. I can keep on painting my Tradition and Imrie-Risley figures.

Prost!
Brad

Brad you should keep after him he likes feed back from collectors and Minden along with most of the 7 years war inEurope has been pretty much ignored by most makers so it would be great to get them from Britain’s one day.

Dave

Ken mentioned Minden regularly for Glossies the times I met him (I was born an hour from Minden). But I am not certain I know where he is taking the gloss range. I feel as if it is very much focused on units with Centre and Grenadier troops as well as command than on battles.

Thanks for the update! Do you know if they intend on producing the Kaiser's Birthday Review figures in matte or gloss? Also, do you know what the Npaoleonic club be?

Brendan

As others have already said thank you for the information! Do you have any details on the upcoming ACW figures?

Was told today at the show that the 88mm gun will be out in June 2019

Sorry bad typing.

Do you know what the Napoleonic club figure will be?

Thanks,

Brendan

The Minden sets for the silent auction did not sell so were bought by someone there.

I am not sure it is as well known a battle as some might think. I read about it in the Standard Magazine for the first time. Probably because there is no Hollywood film .....{sm4}{sm4}

There was a sculpt of Old Abe charging into battle....

Also 2 painted figures that were an officer and infantry figure that I think were Zouaves

Think there were some Union officers including Custer

Not sure where Kaiser are Matt or Gloss as only pictures were of non-painted sculpts

Do not recall a Nap figure being shown but might have missed it or no sculpt was available to show
