Well the first episode played last night and to be honest I was bored. When the original TWD came out it was different, a freshness to it but once it played a few seasons there really isn't much more of the story to tell. Then they started the spinoffs and that just diluted the whole concept. Dead city is suppose to pick up after 5 or 6 episodes but I think as good as the original concept was , the franchise is on it's legs. It is DEAD.

I had a similar impression. Nothing new or different except the location. A completely unoriginal 'rescue my missing kid/wife/dog from the super antisocial bad guy' story line. Don't know how much Super Maggie or Reflective Negan I can take. May give it another show or two but I don't like it's chances. -- Al

I agree Al. I think the appeal of the original was that it was a group of regular people trying to survive something they couldn't understand and never know when one of them would lose the battle. I understand that some survivors would learn how to fight them but they have turned some of them into super soldiers.

A little bit better but it just have doesn't have the effect the first show did.

This was about what I expected. The CGI gives it a video game vibe. It must be a real production pain to stage the show in an urban setting. There was quite a bit of action. At least the zombies finally killed some people. It was becoming ridiculous on TWD when every child and granny was able to take out an army of zombies.

I tried to watch episode 4 (on AMC+) last night. I just can't get into it. I'm sorry but Negen as a good guy just doesn't cut it for me. Having Negen / Maggie, Darryl/Carol and Rick/ Michonne shows just doesn't cut it for me. All those characters interacting with each other is what made the show so compelling to me. The beginning of the show made it seem like there were very few humans left, now they are all over the place. Also you never knew who was going to get killed or what the characters might do. The first 6-7 years was great but after that it started to get boring. I didn't care for the other shows either. So I'm done. Thanks for the great first years. "Just look at the flowers"^&grin

I got bored with The Walking Dead; meet new people, they seem nice, turn out to be bad guys.......rinse, lather, repeat.

I never even found out how it ended.

Apparently it hasn't.

All of these type of shows have an arc and that's that.

Ha! "Just look at the flowers" was the episode that still resonates with me. It was shocking. Everything that was good about the early TWD. -- Al

Bingo !!!!!

B.

Well they renewed Dead City. Not really a surprise but I won't be watching. They just renewed the Daryl Dixon one for season 2 and haven't even showed season 1. I won't be watching this either.
Mark

They have already renewed the Darryl Dixon show for season 2. WHY ?
Mark

I watched Dead City, hanging in, hoping it would improve. Never did so i won't go back for season 2. Negan is much better/interesting as a murdering leader. I'll give Darryl a try just to find out what a back-woods redneck is doing in France... -- Al

Well I went back on my word and watched Darryl Dixon and I did like it. 6 episodes was about right.
