I have the Hiriart set. I got it a few years ago; however, I have never seen your two Evzone sets. They have a distinctive facial expression. Who made them? Are they still being made?
The photos are of the current Hiriart sets being made today. The earlier version of the Evzones had the figures wearing a dark blue tunic/vest without the lighter blue vertical "frills" which may be the version you have. The new officer figure is also quite unique compared to the earlier version. They were definitely made by Hiriart and they are still being made. The difference in the facial expressions could be due to different heads being used. I place one order a year with Hiriart and will place the 2012 order in March.
My Hiriart set was purchased in 2008. Yours is clearly newer. I did not know that Hiriart made a Greek Evzone band. Where can I purchase them?
As I mentioned earlier, the band is a non-catalog special set that I ordered a couple of years ago, which was based on the existing 1119 Greek Evzones catalog set. In the past, I have ordered more than a dozen non-catalog band sets which were based on regular, existing catalog sets (e.g., West Indies Regt, French Navy, Chasseurs Alpins, WW I German Inf, etc.).
If you wish, I can order the Greek Evzones band for you next year when I place my regular annual order with Hiriart. My 2011 order with them numbered 161 sets for me, about two dozen other collectors, and for general resale at the West Coaster Show where I have been selling Hiriart for six years, but, alas, it does not include the Greek Evzones sets. Regular Hiriart sets with nine figures are $125 while bands and artillery gun teams are double sets which sell for $240. Bands usually have 19 or 20 figures.
Put me down for both sets as shown in the photographs that you sent me. Thanks for the information. Both look great.
