Hello,
As a kid, I had a Marx War in the Pacific box set called Bravo Squad. It had USMC vs. Japanese complete with airplanes, howitzers, vehicles, figures, and a plastic mat. What I especially appreciated was that it was an all inclusive set that you could set up, box up, and move to the next room/friend's house.
Do any of you remember the old plastic set?
This set, over the years, inspired me to create a number of Marx Battlefield-like scenes, this being the most recent as I have been adding on over the last couple of years. With much more detail and realism, this is probably how I saw the Marx set as a kid:
