I have had a close up look at the figures but find a couple of items that don't seem right to me.

If the guards were in action, I don't think they would be wearing white gloves, that was only for parade dress.

The Brass plate on the bearskin seems mainly black with some metal showing. All of the hats and plates I have seen in European museums show them polished brass so a dob of brass plaint would remedy that??

I do like the poses and with these figures en-mass a fine looking realistic firing line / square can be achieved. I wonder if next there will additions, like wounded / dead grenadiers and a drummer, officer and NCO to complete the group?

I would love to see wounded, dead, casualty figures.

It's something no one ever does enough of in this hobby. Napoleonic Battles were often brutal with high casualties. We need at least 3-5 different casualty figures. Usually, we get one wounded and one dead guy at most.

Good observations John, wouldn't expect anything less.

I would also add to this their treatment of the gaiters which were not made of leather. So far on both releases of their Old Guard figures both the entire gaiter and shoe is treated as leather and painted to a high gloss black finish looking more like a strippers boots.

I'm sure a little paint or dull wash could fix the issue but If I wanted to paint my own figures I'd be buying kits and not finished figures to paint over.

Anyone got a good paint color suggestion to match the skin tones of these War Park figures? I may want to paint the gloves into bare hands.

I would have to mix the colour because even if you bought a 'flesh' colour that varies with different manufacturers.

I agree with the gaiter colours, but couldn't work it out when I saw the images firstly.

I now use a very dark grey for gaiters and black gloss for leather boot to show the different material.

In these photo's the shinny black finish is not as noticeable as some of the others I've seen posted.

I like your Idea of using a very dark grey for the gaiters, they most certainly would have faded. That color choice could also be used to show dust from marching.

Anyway on these figures if using the high gloss black finish only the toe, heal and any other little bits peaking though the gaiters on the bottom would be appropriate. The whole gaiter with this finish really looks bad IMO.

I'm certainly curious to see where they will go next if they continue their Napoleonic line.
