Heres a Few shots of the Warbirds over Wanaka airshow held this past
Weekend [over 3 days] held every 2 years .The first shot is of the remnants of the sailing ship The Edwin Fox which was used as a troop and supply ship in the crimean
War and then to take convicts to Aussie and immigrants to NZ which I
Guess is how it ended up in picton of all places [its currently being preserved.]

The next shot is off a Hawkwer Hurricane followed by 2 p-40 kittyhawks
[one of which had been re fitted with its guns for a firing demonstration]
and a Corsair FG-1D
And the following are a small snipet of what was flown at the show ,the
Australian airforce was present with a F111 and Globemaster performing
The good old RNZAF bought out the big guns with a few korean and vietnam
Era choppers and a C47.

Their was also a display of ww1/2 militaria vehicles and re inactors etc
The only plane I managed to miss was the spitfire but you cant win them all.
But with over 60 different planes flying it was well worth the mission to get
Down their from wellington [including one speeding ticket ] .

Cheers Guys , My efforts at getting shots in the air where pretty
poor to be polite . I,m not realy a huge plane guy to be honest
but the sound of some of those planes would kick start the
petrol head in anyone.
The mustangs and the corsair sounded sweet , but it,s hard to
beat the F111 no one heard it coming but once it passed over head
man that was loud !!!

That must have been pretty cool , they had a couple of vampires flying .
The only planes you could go up in where the catalina ,DC3 and they had
a competition for a flight in a Mustang [converted to a 2 seater I guess].
cheers Rob
