I'll assume most who study Napoleonic history are familiar with the theory that Napoleon was murdered on St. Helena by arsenic poisoning. Most of my info is old, from the book 'The Murder of Napoleon' which attempted a scientific anaylsis and was quite convincing to me, athough who was part of this conspiracy was murky.
I wonder if that is still a widely held belief, or if new information has surfaced. What do you think about the theory ?
I can add only one tiny footnote. I was vaccationing in Puerto Rico with a friend who has relatives there. Their family history was interesting. They said they were decended from an Italian Doctor named Antomarchi, who had fled to the island to hide, because some thought (erroneously) he had poisoned Napoleon. I have not been able to verify it, but did find he died in Cuba.
