Was wondering if King & Country would consider either of these ideas for figures.....

As many of you know, I am a 20mm metal collector, I recently added late war German FJ's in smocks over greatcoats and late war British Infantry in windproof reversible camo smocks............Andy, would you consider either of these ranges for WWII? German FJ's in camo smocks over greatcoats could be used for the Hurgten Forest, the Bulge, the operations in the Reichswald and the Rhine crossings among others, the British for the Bulge, the Reichswald and the Rhine crossing as well? I know you did late war British for the Bulge, these could be addons to that range; thoughts?

Hi George,
Many thanks for the suggestion…always appreciated!
One of the hardest things for me is deciding exactly which ideas and suggestions should be acted upon because there are so many good ones.
The next hardest task is then trying to ‘shoehorn’ one or more of these ideas into the production schedule…difficult but not impossible.
Thanks again,
Andy.

Andy,
Understood, you produced the late war British Infantry in the Jerkins, these would go with those as these are wearing the camo late war reversable smocks. Naturally, the sales on the Jerkin clad figures would be the measuring stick and whether another late war series would sell well.

The late war FJ's in smocks over greatcoats are iconic, the newsreel footage of them riding on Tiger II's through the Ardennes for example, they fought at the Hurtgen forest, the bulge and the Reichswald among other places wearing that gear.

Just something to think about is all, hope you are well.

I know there are other companies who've done Zulu War, but K & C is K & C, I've got customers who collect K & C exclusively and would be all over a Zulu War range from them.

G’Day Brett,
Greetings from San Antonio!

Re: ‘Rorke’s Drift’…It’s certainly a great historical subject, no doubt about that…One that you and me have talked about quite a few times…
However, the ‘rub’ for me is that it has been ‘done to death’ by so many other companies…

For the life of me I don’t know of anything new to say that has not been said oft times before.
But, if one of these days …or in the middle of the night I get a sudden vision about Rorke’s Drift I’ll be on the blower to Brisbane toot sweet!!!

All the best,
Andy.

I agree with Andy on this, there are various different companies that have been making Rorke's Drift figures/sets for years. I stopped collecting Zulu War stuff a few years ago and sold them, we can look at Britains, Conte, Thomas Gunn who service this era, not forgetting First Legion's 'toe in the water' into the Zulu Wars. I really like the way the TS market is heading, expanding into wars, conflicts and eras we have not had the opportunity to collect before. From Cowboys/Indians, Vietnam, Indo China war, Korean War, Trojans, El Cid and Falklands War. Lots of choices.

Nailed it - no need for K&C Zulu war. Even Collectors Showcase did a few early releases not forgetting the short-lived Empire Miniatures. And agree totally with the direction of the hobby with further great releases for Spanish/American, Franco/Prussian, Russo/Japanese, Mongols, Wellington in India, Arab/Israeli War and Aztec/Conquistadors to add to the above list.

Personally I would love to see Crete revisited with German paras and Colonial defenders.

Just a thought but could you consider an evening double feature of Zulu Dawn and Zulu and then see if the subject pops into your head whilst sleeping {sm4}

As I said just kidding {sm3} Well aware of your reasoning.

Re: Was wondering if King & Country would consider either of these ideas for figures.

I reckon there is room for a range just of the main personalities. These could easily be absorbed into existing Zulu collections and would be popular I am sure. Never say never is the catch cry. Robin.

In jest and remembering an 'old post' worth a laugh ....
