Have any of you been there? I was there with my dad a few months ago and it really left an impression on me.

There was a member of the chapel there who gave us a mini tour and was so nice and knowledgeable. He and my dad were trading information, etc.

I've seen a number of cathedrals in France so I know the scale of those things but this one is so small and intimate yet equally awe inspiring.

The woodwork, masonry and the stain glass is second to none. Instead of religious themes, the stain glass shows various points in the founding of the nation and the wood carved figures are not saints, apostles - they are men in the uniforms worn by the units who wintered there. It's just amazing.

The funny thing that day was that there were guests arriving for a wedding. I over heard one of the guests say "this place is so small. I hate it, why would they choose to have their wedding here?" I had to butt in and I said "do you know where you are? you should feel honored to be here. This is hallowed ground all around you." She just didn't get it. Shame on her.

I'll post photos when I get a chance.

Great photos Gid. Love the stain glass window. In Snetterton Heath, the village in East Anglia from which my Uncle Joe's bomb group (the 96th) flew, there is a little chapel with stain glass windows commemorating his bomb group, with the Unit and Squadron insignias, the B17's flying over head and some of the pilots and crew reproduced in the windows as well. Here is a link to some photos of the windows:

My wife and I love that chapel. I think it is a gorgeous location for a wedding ceremony. Anyone visiting Valley Forge should stop in and visit. It is usually open.

Yes, that woman needed a history lesson. Fantastic pictures. I may have to go one day. I have not been able to get to any of the shows near there, but one day I will.

Thanks for sharing.

More like good manners.

The chapel is nice but I wonder if George Washington the Deist would approve.
