Today picked up new book on Waterloo by Bernard Cornwell (author of the Sharpe series). It is his first non fiction book and initial look through looks good.

When buying it the shop assistant mentioned that Anthony Beevor was also doing a Waterloo book due out next year. It did make me think which I would choose if both books were available.

I did a brief Google including Beevors web page and cant find a mention of such a book. However did note he is bringing out a book on the Ardennes next year.

Hi

That would be a difficult choice. I will have to look for the Cornwell Book since I have nearly all of his others.

I would think over the next year or so leading up to June 2015 there will be a raftload of new books on Waterloo, which is fine by me, the more the merrier.

I preordered a book from Osprey on Waterloo, 400 pages, hardbound and lavishly illustrated, it comes in beautiful protective black sleeve, can't believe it's only in the $35.00 range, due to ship in about six weeks.............

Both of the books mentioned - look good - and available at excellent prices.

The Bernard Cornwell book - Waterloo: The History of Four Days, Three Armies and Three Battles - will be available from Amazon for Ten pounds - with FREE delivery from 11 September.

The Nick Lipscombe book, - Waterloo: The Decisive Victory - is again available from the same dealer at £22.75 - again with FREE delivery - from release date by Osprey in October.

I think I'll definitely have the Cornwell book - for Xmas ( (just like the way he writes), - and maybe have a look at the other Osprey one for later on too. jb

Interesting to see Amazon selling it at ten pounds with free postage when book shows RRP is 25 pounds.

Amazon are selling it cheaper at retail than book shops would probably be paying at wholesale.

No wonder so many book shops are closing.

I just picked my copy of the Cornwell Waterloo book from BIGW $28...no need for postage, was nice to actually walk into a store and pay with cash.
