Bought the DVD the other day, it was in the cheapo bargain bucket - a fiver (Americans multiply by 1.35) found that I could predict almost the entire dialogue - mind you I've watched it over 100 times since 1970!!!!

Great movie i love it and Rod Steiger is great ...by the way Kubrick could have done his "Napoleon" , but was scared by the commercial failure of Waterloo and dropped the project..it was a pity.

Seen this quite a few times as well, I like the aerial shot of the British Squares, the charge of the French Cuirassiers and of course the British turning back the Old Guard at the end.:)

A couple of shots that annoy me every time I watch it is the close ups of the main characters on moving horses which are so clearly riggs on the back of vehicles.:D

The main problem with the aerial shot of the squares is that positioned like that they would be firing into each other. Squares were arranged in diamond formation point to point so that they fired across each others front, the cavalry funnelled in between the squares were then caught in a lethal crossfire. But, nitpicking aside, it was still an excellent film.

One of my all-time favourite films.

My favourite scene is where Napoleon farewells his soldiers by kissing the standard as the tears roll down the faces of his loyal troops.

Oh, and when the King's men can't carry out the order to shoot him and the young soldier faints. :)
