I am pleased to announce that long time toy soldier collector, maker, colleague, and friend, Richard Walker has now fully become my partner in Treefrog Treasures. The toy soldier hobby is experiencing interesting times. Combining the strength of Treefrog Treasures with Richard's experience and passion for collecting will enable the business to grow to the next level.

As most of you know, Shannon, my wife and longtime business partner, passed away in 2015. Julie, Jesse, and Aron (the Treefrog crew) learned well from Shannon and brought her business sense and keen ability to build relationships to the business. Over the last nine months Richard Walker assisted us into new areas through a renewed presence at shows and in print media. Shannon always prided herself in finding new ways to expand the toy soldier hobby. Bringing Richard on as a full partner will continue to expand her legacy.

I first met Richard in 2001 when Treefrog Treasures had just entered the toy soldier world and he developed his Forward March line of soldiers. Our business relationship grew as Richard became General Manager of Wm. Britain. Even during his hiatus from the toy soldier world I kept in close contact.

Our recent Milwaukee Trunk Show was a big hit as were efforts to reach out beyond the hobby at military shows and collector media. Watch for more new ways to learn about toy soldiers, collecting and Treefrog Treasures over the next few months!

Julie, Jesse, and Aron will continue their good work of keeping Treefrog Treasures running smoothly. Richard and I will work 'behind the scenes' to move this hobby forward.

Join me in welcoming Richard Walker to the Treefrog Treasures team!

Here are a few words from Richard:
"I am so excited to be working with everyone at Treefrog and to be a part of this amazing company that Pete and Shannon built over the last fifteen years! We have a great line up of manufacturers and dedicated collectors who I am looking forward to working with and getting to know better."

Richard will be an asset to the company...kudos to you both...

What happened to Richard's Del Prado ownership?

Did I miss something?

Carlos

Richard still has some of this own things going on...he's joining Treefrog, bit I'm not joining all his other ventures!

Congratulations, to both, Richard and Treefrog ;-)
I'm positive, that this is a winning combination.
Good Luck for a successful future!

So this is not a full time gig for him?

What will his role be? General Manager or the like? Will he have a role in the management of the Forum?

Nope, not a full time gig for him. He's helping us to move outside the existing toy soldier collecting world to find new people who can get passionate about our hobby. For example, we'll be at both the Chicago Show and the WWII Re-Enactment in Rockford on the same weekend. That's partly Richard's doing.

At this point I don't think he'll play a major management role on the forum...but everything is open to negotiation :)

I see, thanks. Hope you don't think I'm prying but will you be less involved now that he's on board as I imagine it's difficult trying to juggle Treefrog and your pastoral duties.

Brad

Richard Walker was the first toy soldier collector I met (when I was around nine or ten). I credit him and his work at WBritain with really bringing me into this hobby. Now, eleven or twelve years later, I am happy to see he is at it again.

Good move to keep Richard in this hobby, a solid performer that knows his stuff. All the best. Robin.

An, I'm a master juggler! Much of what I have always done for Treefrog has been 'behind the scenes.' That will continue!

Thank you for the kind words everyone. I have really enjoyed working with Pete, Julie, Aron and Jesse the last few months as a consultant, so this seemed like a natural next step. I am going to leave the forum to the experts, but you may hear from me every once in awhile. I am still hard at it with History Works Del Prado as my own venture. New sculpts trickling in. I also have a full time regular job outside the hobby that I enjoy very much. So the Treefrog team of Julie, Aron and Jesse will remain the day to day contacts. And in my spare time, I am going to collect and paint toy soldiers and wargame figures, is there something wrong with me???!!! And all kidding aside, enjoy seeing my 12 and 13 year old grow up and help out with my new ventures. Look for Ricky and Claire at the CTSS show next week! All for now, great to be back.

Congrats to both Peter and Richard, two gentleman in the hobby I like and respect.:smile2: I wish you both continued success!
