Last week my mum took me and my friend Hal to a caravan site in Scarbrough. The weather was fantastic and it only rained once for 10 mins
We went down on the Saturday and my cousins were coming on he Wednesday. On Saturday and Sunday we were just pretty much getting settled in and trying to find out where everything was.
On Monday we went to a place called The Eden Project , this was a small Army base near York, which had been turned into a museum. There were loads of vehicles and models at the base, and there were about 30 huts which you could go into and see life sized dioramas of life during WW2 and WW1. Each hut was different, and some were big and others small, and unfortunately some of them had really bad smells in them
On Tuesday we took a trip down to K&C UK and saw Mike and Tony and the showroom
It was great, and even my friend Hal, who didn't know where we were going, thought it was great. I purchased some Some FOB Tommies, FOB30, FOB26, and FOB 25. They are great figures, especially the Vickers machine gunner!!! I also purchased DD76 the Combat Photographer, and tried to get the Patrol Jeep, but it was out of stock. And finally the German Tank Crew WSS99, a great set
My friend Hal, who hadn't planned oon buying anything, Purchased some Crusader figures and a Saracen figure, MK042, MKO19, and MKO09. He thought they were great, and I didn't disagree
On Wednesday we went into Scarbrough after cleaning up for my cousins to arrive, and my mum told me about a Toy Soldier company in Barr Street, if you take a guess at what one, I doubt you will be wrong. Maison Militaire was the name of the shop she was talking about, but you all knew that anyway, and while me and Hal looked about she went for a coffee. The shop is quite small, but with all the dioramas and set ups in the display cases, you'd think it was much, much bigger.
Hal took a lot of interest in the English Civil War , and Viking set ups and I just thought the whole place was really good. After we left we went to a smaller shop almost next door to Maison Militaire which had loads of angels soaps and bath bombs and things in it, total ladies shop, and I decided to go back to Maison Militaire and purchase another K&C figure from them
I bought the standing Tommy firing rifle FOB29 and then we left Scarbrough tro go and meet my cousins and show them where the caravan was.
On Thursday we all just kind off lazed about and went swimming and stuff, but on Friday me, my mum, and Hal went to a large place in York called Fort Paul. It was a good place to visit but much of it was closed off due to flooding, and it was virtually empty apart from a couple of families and us.
In one particular long tunnel, there was manakins of old medieval knights with bits of there wax peeling off in places, and when we were walking away we stopped and heard footsteps behind us, but we knew there was no one there behind us because we had just come from there
We both looked at each other and then just straight bolted for the door.
In another tunnel there was 3 rooms made to look like prison cells, with iron bars over them to stop people going in and make them loook more realistic. It was all true stories and accounts of things that happened in those prisons in the dungeons of the fort, and there was one where a guy hung himself because he had been too frightened of the ghosts that supposedly haunted the fort at that time and the time we were there. There was also another one but I can't remember what about, but this manakins head was hidden in darkness, so you couldn't see it, but I had my phone and I shone the light to see his head, but the manakin had no head, guess they couldn't afford the finished article, they must have tried to pay a head, get it?
There was also one called Rabbit Nanny, about a woman who caught rabbits and done something horrible with them, but the board that told the story had been vandalised, so we couldn't see, and when we looked in that cell it was pitch black and shivers ran down my spine. Scary Stuff!!!
Then on Saturday it was time to go home, and just on the other side of Scarbrough to the side we were at, we had a crash in the car. A guy came right out beside my mum too fast, and she swerved and totaly screwed up her tires on the left side of the car. Me and Hal went flying forward and I hurt my back and neck, however the guy in the other car changed my mum's tire, but unfortunately we had to go back to York for another 2 hours, but it took us 2 hours to find York, Theres nothing wrong with York but I was dying to get home and open my figures.
Eventually we got home before my cousins, we had won the race, even though we had a bit of trouble getting started.
It was a fun holiday, but I am glad to be home.
Thanks Mike and Tony for letting us come down for a while.
