i think it would be interesting to see a set of four officers , one wearing the black uniform of the panzertruppen, one wearing black leather u boat jacket and pants another wearing a leather greatcoat and possibly a fallshrimjager officer looking at maps, even three around possably a swimmwagen or kubelwagen.i understand andy must get sick of people making suggestions of what they would like to see manafactured as it would be impossable to please everyone. also what is the most popular range that king and country produce?

I don't know for sure but i bet it's D-Day or the Waffen SS in Normandy

I wonder what it is about the German military that draws us to them? We who beat them in two world wars seem to have this need to learn more about them and, in the case of toy soldiers, to collect them. Was it their war fighting skills that would more-than-likely have won both wars if the politicians (Hitler) would not have interferred so much? Or is it the winner having respect for the loser? Some PhD candidate would find a thesis in this subject.

Andy, if you read this, if you are willing to share with us some company intel, what is the most popular series or time period for K&C? Perhaps some of the other manufacturers would be willing also? :) Michael

I'm almost certain that Andy had informed us that the top selling line has been the LAH series. Anyone,anyone..

Your memory is better than mine. Now that you have said the LAH series, I remember that you are correct. It was about five or six months ago that either Andy or Louis informed us of that. Michael

Really? I would have said the WS series over LAH. I sell way more WS than LAH but that could be because you have to know the magic word to access our LAH pages (or more often you just have to ask me for the link and convince me you are a toy soldier enthusist and not a neo-Nazi in disguise looking for a Hitler statuette for your desktop;) )

Thematically, it's probably World War II and within that theme LAH does sell the best. That's my recollection also. However, I think the most popular range is Streets of Old Hong Kong. Over on the K & C web site, it says that HK is among their most popular ranges. It doesn't mean it's the most popular but I think Andy said it was.

That maybe true with Treefrog, but other dealers are more than willing to post all their wares on line regardless of politics. I know that there is a profit to be made in this area, my concern is the glorification of Nazism using toy soldiers as a medium. But, we do live in a so-called free society and these are some of the issues we must accomidate to ensure that freedom continues.

However, we do have an obligation to tell the truth and let the world know of the real meaning of the term Nazi - horror, genocide, murder, etc. And, yes for all you history rewriters out there, the Germans did have concentration camps and they did murder more than 6 million jews along with many more millions of other forms of the Nazi undesireables. Andy has told me several times that the Streets of Old Hong Kong is the most popular range in Hong Kong and Asia, with the WWII stuff just languishing in the Hong Kong store.

Hi Guys,

Re Steven’s recent post about different K&C series popularity…

Whilst it is true that at our store in Hong Kong our Chinese-themed series (“Streets of Old Hong Kong” and “The Imperial Collection”) are our single biggest collective seller, it’s definitely not true that “the World War Two stuff is just languishing.”

World War Two, in all its many guises, and our more recent Napoleonics enjoy healthy and robust sales that could certainly not be described as “languishing”.

Obviously there is more Chinese interest in our Chinese subjects right here in Hong Kong as opposed to overseas. But for other Asian (non Chinese collectors) World War Two and Napoleonics are particularly popular.

So, believe me I’m not complaining just, I hope, clarifying.

Best wishes to one and all and …happy collecting!

P.S. Only two more weeks to the “Westcoaster” – I’ll be there from the 2-5 March, then onto New York and Louis’ Symposium – can’t wait.

Hi Guys (Steve P and Eazy),

Re your thoughts and suggestions on the above idea. Well, you must be psychic or what?

K&C have got a nice little project in the works that meets most, if not all, of your suggestion. I’m really excited about it and I think you will be too.

Scheduled release date is 2nd quarter of ’06 and I’ll be able to release more details in a wee while.

About ‘popularity’ of series… World War Two is our biggest as a whole … and Waffen SS is our biggest of World War Two!!! Look out also for some nice new releases for D.Day – both German and Allied. Again 2nd Quarter.

That’s all for now folks!

Happy Collecting,

Andy C.

Andy,

Do you have British troops and/or vehicles scheduled for Second Quarter as well?

Maybe... just maybe some British paratroopers will be released. I know Andy had said they were off the agenda for now, but he might have been teasing us.
