...that Conte do not produce the original romans and barbarians range anymore!

I ordered a set from a guy in USA last Thursday and it arrived at my door in Scotland TODAY! WOW THAT WAS BLOODY FAST!

The set was the Barbarians Attacking set and what a gorgeous set it is! I mean really the poses are so full of action i feel like I am actually witnessing the figures moving in front of me! The crouching running figure with shield and spear has so much intricate details on the shield! It's gorgeous! And the figure with one foot on rock and jumping with axe raised as if he is about to pounce onto a roman soldier is stunning!

Never mind the new sets, the old ones are perfection!

Can't wait to see the rest of the roman sets i bought!

Scott...if you're talking about his Winter Games series...his newest version of Rome and Barbarians...yes...you're right...they are really nice figures and an incredible value on Ebay...I always hoped he would produce more of these...but I'm now tending to agree with other forum members that Richard has quit the game all together...

They did produce some nice sets. I wonder if the molds still functional.

Actually talking about the original ones before the current series of 'Winter sets' came out, the series with the 3 sets of four Barbarians! The ones that were in the same series as the 'Point Well Taken' set.

But the Winter games sets do.look amazing too with all the arrows in the bases!

Cheers! Scott

Scott...

not sure who sculpted the earlier ones...

but the Winter Games were sculpted by Robert Ortiz...

and they are quite nice...

the earlier Barbarians were pretty nice...

but the Winter Games Romans blow the earlier ones away...

Got my second set; behold the power of rome: love how there is a base provided but you can still relocate the figures!

Excellent!

3rd wave has come in:

'Point Well Taken' - great set! The falling roman cavalryman is in a terrific pose as if he's like '***? I'm hit!' The base is brilliantly detailed and the accompanying figures are great too! Only downside was that the bottom of the raised spear (so the highest point in the figure) was broken off but it was easy fixed!

'Cause and Effect' - Great wee set, romans face wasn't very well detailed but the Barbarian's is. Great amount of action in a set!

'Cavalryman #3' - Fantastic figure with spear coming down toward barbarians.

Really like these Conte Roman figures, really wish there were more on the table!

On a side note, I won what I always considered to be a kind of rare figure; the dead barbarian lying face down. Looking forward to adding this to the collection soon, as well as purchasing the two remaining sets of 4 Barbarians, Dance of Death, Lionhead signifer, Command Set, Tremble at the Sound, Cavalryman #1, 2, and Mounted Officer.
