Hi, I have half a dozen boxes of Imperials I am selling.

Mostly Blackwatch Sudan dress and others. Also the SA Highlanders some Rorkes drift sets.

I collect mainly old britains so am trying to work out what I can use sets as trade value.

Can I provide some box set numbers to see if you gents can let me know what I should ask for them. Any experts or knowledgable people are welcome, it is not easy I know.

The AUctions on ebay show rediculous prices and I don't like to use ebay.

Many thanks

It sounds as if your sets are among the discontinued/retired Imperial Productions sets. A few of the Egypt/Sudan sets are still made, but I believe they are all non-Brit sets.

Value is hard to say, especially when trading, but I would offer the following as a good rule of thumb as I have been watching Imperial sales for some time (albeit primarily on eBay).

For a typical single mounted figure; the price will range from a low of around $50.00 US to about $75.00 US, assuming mint with box, etc.

For a typical set of six figures, prices seem to range from a low of @ $80.00 US to a high of $140 or so, depending on the subject and production rate.

FYI: The current (6 figure) sets are selling in the $130-150's brand new, not including shipping from NZ. Here is a link to London Bridge's list of currently available figures. http://www.londonbridgetoys.com/imperial.html I believe that the Zulu sets listed are no longer available. This list needs to be updated.

Egypt/Sudan themed Imperial sets are among their most beautiful sets, imho, but I think the Zulu era sets have more of a cult following among toy soldier buffs who are interested in the period as much as they are soldiers made by a particular manufacturer.

Trade-wise, I would think you might find people who would be willing to trade you set for set, depending on what you are looking for.

Good luck,
Drum
