They have several variations that can be picked up as an add-on (wood frame, metal frame, etc.).

Great dioramas! It looks like you have an impressive collection of First World War tanks and aircraft too. One question though. Is the lighting from Ikea or did you have to buy it elsewhere and drill holes in the shelf yourself?

The lights are from Ikea. The top two are electric and are drilled in. The lower shelves have battery powered LED lights that run about $4 ea. and just stick onto the bottom of the shelf. You can find similar at Home Depot.
