It is always interesting to hear what collectors bought at the Chicago Toy Soldier Show, so I thought I would start off. I was looking for a number of early Imperial and Trophy Boxer Rebellion sets, plus some Forces of Valor 1/32and Dragoon 1/72 AFV. In addition, I wanted to buy most of Frontline Figures new offerings. I did pick up FOV's M-3 Lee and M-5 Stuart tanks in 1/32 scale; however, I couldn't find any of Dragons new 1/72 AFVs. The vendor I usually buy from had them on sale for $10 each and someone came in before me on Wednesday and cleaned him out.

I was lucky to find Imperial's sets Nos. 50 a, b, & d (the 6th Bengal Cavalry, 1st Bengal Cavalry, and 30th Lancers, respectively) plus the Nos. 51 officers sets to go with them. These sets are not very common, and, in fact, I can't remember the last time I saw them in Chicago or the West Coaster. I also found set No. 11 - Captain Gilbert Mair & the Arawa Flying Column and Set No. 28c - Seaforth Highlander Mounted Officer. Photos of the Imperial sets follow in the order mentioned.

I also bought Frontline Figures new French & Indian War French Marines offerings: IFMW.1 - Firing & Loading, IFMW.2 - Officer & Drummer, and IFMW.3 - Standard Bearer & NCO. Plus, I couldn't pass up their new artillery sets: FGG.1 - French 4 Pounder & Crew and BGG.1 - British 6 Pounder & Crew. I posted the Frontline photos under another thread, but I am showing them here for those of you who didn't see them.

Frontline's new WWI line is a winner in my estimation. I am sorry I didn't have my camera with me so I could have taken a photo of their WWI trench diorama (a Forum member bought it). In any case, here are photos of the Uhlans I bought: GGW.4 - Officer Standing Reading A Map, GGW.5 - Uhlan Holding His Horse, GGW. 1 & 2 - Mounted Troopers, GGW.3 - Officer With Sword, and GGW.6 - Standard Bearer, and WMG.2 - 76mm Trench Mortar Being Towed.

I purchased the Crimean Range and signed up for the next issue, due in September. I purchased the King and Country SAS Jeep, the LRDG Chevy (EA 23), Major Sterling, The Watchers, The Attackers and On Guard, all from the EA line. I also purchased the Winter MG 42 set (WS 82) at a discount :) and one of the Glider figures. I also received from Steven Chong one of the Camel Corps figures and one of the jockey sets. I also picked up from Hans a couple of old Seaforths. All in all very satisfactory.

Very little. My collections are beyond wretched excess anyway. Most of what I saw that were had to haves have not yet been released.
I found 4 sets of Britians retired 10th Light Infantry for the AWI. 12 figs , makes a nice little wargame unit. Spent a little more than I like per set but the same dealer had all 4 .Beats hunting 4 sets down on ebay and paying shipping so I was happy.

Also there was some one that had bought the Barzo Castle sets and was selling off unwanted figures. I scooped up 10 Norman archers and a couple other poses.Paid a little more, but didnt have to buy several boxes and have lots of unwanted poses myself.

3 54mm painted Napoleonic French Light infantry. One in a greatcoat and shako cover advancing. He'll go in a mold for future wargame units.
No idea what make they are but all very nice.
Thats it. For me, an incredible display of discipline.Held firm against impule to buy John Jenkins and Frontline FIW, Spartans, Castles ect ect. Not as weak as I thought!

Hope you found all you wanted.

I picked up a K&C M12 SP 155mm (I had been stalling on that purchase), one of Hobby Bunker's nice buildings, another batch of Conte GI's for more conversions, a couple sets of TSSD Civil War Cavalry and a few Marx figures that I had been wanting.

I also got a look at some items that I wasn't sure I wanted until I saw them in person (like a Britains M8 armored car) and I learned about a couple upcoming K&C items that will be on my "gotta have one" list.

Gary,

It was my great pleasure meeting you at the show and your knowledge of WWII vehicles eclipses mine by light years.

I picked up:
• Two Figarti USMC figures and a well painted bombed out building from Hobby Bunker
• A few Osprey books
• KC Opel Blitz Grey repaint from Alexandar via Treefrog

The crowning acquisition….KC WS41 Panzer II; I can’t believe I have it. Thanks Steven Chong for spotting it. It was in mint condition for a price one could only dream about.

I bought the Barzo seperate castle, not the playset, the Frontline WW1 Germans, buildings from Hobby Bunker, TSSD cavalry, ONTC WW1 Germans, and my favorite purchase of the show, the 4 Figarti sets to complete the V-1 rocket set.
As usual I went over budget, but what a good time!

Set of 8 Britains Fort Henry guards (old ones) and a set of New metal Britains.
I bought diorama material from Hudson & Allen (ken Osen) and more new Britains Redcoats. Bill Hocker was there and I got a set of K.O.S.B. Maxim gun & figures. I did not get any armor, buildings or other stuff this year. I picked up some miscellanous single metal figures also. Leadmen

I see you picked up some of harolds casting. I picked up a bunch of his new french figures also! Now to find the time to get some paint on them and the hundred other half finnished projects I have kicking around.

Are you going to finnish them in matte or gloss??? Post some pictures when you get some paint on them.

KV Nice haul from Chicago, especially like the Cherokee rifles and the Betons. John:)

Hi Vamp,

In frame number 13 above, you posted a picture of Britains Crimean War set# 00170, Scots Grays Duals 11th Hussars. I am curious to know if you or a previous owner has altered the set from its original pose. The picture seems to display the 11th Hussar falling from his saddle, which if not exactly how that figure was posed. Also, the Hussar's horse's head appears to be drooping, which does not seem to comply with the original pose. Does the camera angle from which the picture was taken make these figures look this way or have the figures been altered? In any case, it is a great set and I appreciate seeing it posted!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Pat I may have put that together wrong. I believe that it was new in the box.

I will be giving that to my father. It is a great set. I paid about $40 from TNC:)
