How do you guys buy all that is made without your wife going mental.I pick & choose what I buy but find it still is alot of money to my wife.To me I would like to buy more but the fun police always gets in the way.You long time buyers who are married might be able to help me.I have what I call hidden tank money that me and my dog no about but thats not enough. She is great and does buys things & books for me but she counts every statement & every cent.I saw pictures of what some of you guys have and live in envey. How can I bring her to see the greatness in toy soldier collecting.

Easy

"Pro-quo"

You buy her something first for $100 then you buy something for $200 telling her it only cost $100.

We have more than one customer in the UK who actually asks for their deliveries to go to work address for the same reason as you and we have otehr customers who ask for the deliveries to go to their home but the invoices to go to their work.

I work myself on the "pro-quo" method - in NYC last month i bought my wife a Tiffany watch then i went over the road and bought a Mont Blanc watch which was more expensive but by then she was in a "happy haze" looking at her watch.

This is a very expensive method.

I prefer deception and subterfuge.

You guys are killing me. :D :D I guess I'll have to hoard as much as I can before I walk down the isle.

Some of us cannot afford the Tiffanys Apporach - Nice to know Tony is doing so well .... but, it is good to tie K&C purchases around time when you do buy things for the spouse - because the HAPPY HAZE as Tony puts it does help in the FOG OF WAR for K&C Items!

There are three major ways of avoiding the wife radar:

1) Personal Credit Cards - this might be difficult for those who have been married for awhile - but, have statements sent to the office and you can set the pace to pay off the card.

2) Have them buy some things for you - Pick out several small items and have the wife buy them for you during the holidays and other occassions. This way she is included in the hobby - which creates bigger cooperation in displaying items at home. Unless you have an entire attic or floor like Louis  And she ever asks about something - you say "honey don't you remember ?? You bought that for me on...."

3) EBAY ! - I know the thought of ebay drives some of you crazy - but, with ebay and paypal - I have my own secret fund :D - Paypal has a Mastercard - Debit Card that works just like a credit card. A wonderful slush fund.

There all my secrets

Ahhhhh...deception and subterfuge.

I only wish.

When you have a wife whose part-time job is the "Pythia" at the Oracle of Delphi you stand no chance. Just remember all women are one "They know everything".

We work on the principal of whatever I spend she spends. Its amazing how many Romantic/Vampire/Horror books you can get for about 150 boxes of K&C plus other stuff.

Very funny on a friday afternoon. :)

I have an urge to say

Oh yes it is.

But it's not pantomime season yet so i won't. :)

they are pre-orders,and they are coming slowly, ordered months ago.......well have to find another method because she just busted me posting this

I go with Steps 1 and 3 of the Ron method. Try to pay for things through my paypal account from ebay sales. Other things are done through my own credit card and all purchases are sent to work which I then bring into the house after everybody is asleep.

Sorry mates, but that's the way it is :)

Yep that sounds like deception and subterfuge to me!

Keep it up!

No doubt about it James. My wife doesn't notice but my son is pretty observant

Now i know this is a bit 'out there' but how about this."Darling,do you mind if i purchase this, cos it goes so well with that".Sometimes works chaps!

Rob

Why not just buy her some K&C!
I did this and now my wife has quite a nice little collection of the SOHK. Beats getting earache (or worse).

Jeff,

Great idea! I may try this one. I like many of the SOHK pieces and I can pretend it is for her. As a note, this method does not work with the Hummel, so don't even try.

I still have to follow "deception and subterfuge", and I have to disagree with Ron with step #2, then she will actually know how much this stuff really costs.
