I am approaching my 2 year anniversary here on the forum and the ride have been fun- I have enjoyed chatting with all of you during that time. As I look back at that time, I realize how much I have learned from this forum and though it would be nice to create a thread which celebrates what we all bring to this forum. Here goes:
.) From Binder001 and fmethorst- I have learned that the Sherman tank was assembled from approximately 1,519,435 bolts and I can now competently inform everyone the approriate foot torque on each lugnut and track shoe for all the different series of Sherman tank. I can tell you that the steering yoke on the M1 Sherman was approximately 1/4" wider than the later M2 series and that the main gun could traverse approximately 3.07865 degrees higher than the.........well, you get the point- they are flippin geniunses
.) Fubar, Alexdakar and Wraith have all provided interesting "how to's" in the how to column of the forum which have provided me neat little suggestions on various projects I have worked on.
.) Louis Badolato and, to a lesser extent, jazzeum for bringing their knowledge of King and Country to the masses.
.) DMNamiot,Damian and PatWade for bringing their knowledge of Britains and overall general toy soldier history to light;
.) I never knew that Hugo Boss designed the uniforms for the 3rd Reich;
.) Thanks to UKReb for teaching me more about the Civil War in my country;
.) I now know a little something about the Napoleonic era- nothing earthshattering but still has been interesting;
.) The "Air buffs" like Beaufighter, Spitfrnd and even Louis to a lesser extent have all enlightened me to air power;
.) Never realized how close a kinship the folks in England have with us in the States- it has been really really interesting to see how much respect you guys have for the sacrifices our troopers have made for your nation. Quite unfortunately, and you won't find this from the forum members, the sacrifices made by British troopers isn't equally celebrated over here- a real dishonor, imo.
.) panda1gen is just amazing with a camera and really inspired me to pick up a camera and get crackin.
.) Thanks to Ken Clarke at East of India for sharing his knowledge of Rome with me;
.) Lancer, Rob and Maddadicus have provided a lot of useful information regarding World War 1- I had no idea Russia was even in it till I read some of their posts- just thought the Bolshevik revolution happened internally.
Well, I think that about covers it.
Cheers
