Hi guys and gals. Was wondering what manufacturer of buildings youbise for your displays?

I have several King and Country, W. Britain's and JG Miniatures ones but need advice for the best maker of dutch/French house as I'd like to make an Arnhem street!

Check out the two Hudson Studio buildings on the TF shop page. Very nice. Robin.

Hiya,

I too have been planning for years to do a big Arnhem diorama. slowly collecting parts. What I have learnt thats it best to just get the parts you need made by an expert then put them all together. No one place sells everything you need and getting Dutch buildings from WW2 period is really difficult.

I used the older K&C building facades and jetties/bridge and vehicles/figures and Dept 56 canal sections in the photo below to make a small "on the road to Arnhem" scene but for a larger diorama I would just get them custom made as you can never find off the shelf everything you need to fit in the space you have. sorry for photo quality below - just took with my phone camera so you can get the idea.

I use 2 places in Europe to get diorama stuff done by experts at reasonable prices;
1. David Marshall at TM Terrain. http://www.tmterrain.co.uk/gallery/ Take a look at his website and see the gallery of what he makes - everything!
2. Carlo Terrinoni at Carter Scenics in Italy. He has custom made stuff for me and Ive bought quite a few of his custom buildings which are just beautiful. http://www.charlesgarage.com/carter-scenics.html
JG Miniatures in England will also custom make some top notch stuff, see their website; http://www.jgminiatures.com/

There must be similar places in the USA you can get custom stuff done like this. Im hoping other forum readers know of them and can list here.

Good luck!

Cheers,

Stefan

hi Scott,

in that case see you at the Toy soldier show in London in December ! Blake will be there from Thomas Gunn so if you and I hit him about making a couple of Hamilcar gliders which open for us then we might be able to persuade him to do it !

David Marshall from TM Terrain is always there too and JG miniatures.

Cheers,

Stefan

Toy Soldiers of Scandinavia has some very nice buildings at reasonable prices. I have bought a few and they are well done, great for 60mm figures and vehicles.

Those look to be of inferior quality.

I agree with Brad, these particular buildings from China are rudimentary at best...They have been designed by someone with virtually no experience or knowledge of basic European architecture...

In fact you can see lots of actual buildings like this in Southern China designed and erected by builders and architects with about the same level of expertise as the manufacturer of the sample shown!
Andy.

Nothing compared to any building you ever have made.
