As some of you know I bought my very first K&C yesterday, my love for the Great War spurred me on.

I picked up Sir John French and now I am wondering what do I get next. I know that I am staying in the Great War series.

I was thinking of going all B.E.F with my next being the officer with the map.

Was also looking at getting the German Calvary or just the Kaiser and his ADC.

I know this is totally a personal decision but I still would like to hear how the long time collectors go about doing it.

One of the first figures i bought is the Kaiser (every collection is poorer without him), but i collect many ranges..i look at the beauty of the sculpt, the colours..yes i have my favourite ranges (Crimea,AWI and WWII) but tend not to be tied to a range..so in the end my suggestion is: buy the Kaiser or if you like to complete the British first, buy the staff officer , then the beautiful (i can't avoid to repeat it) sergeant !

Thanks for the reply!

I am by no means a fan of Sir John French but the beauty and detail and the colors are what made me pick him up first. I really appreciate his having a cane for some reason.

"how do you go about it" - Personally, I pick the most interesting item or the "gotta have it" item and get those first, then I go back and obtain other items that I desire or to fill a series. I think of my self as "building scenes" rather than "getting one of everything" so my buying is based (usually) on does that fill X scene?". I am guilty of impulse buys, like the K&C M12 SP 155mm gun - it can be its own scene and just plain looks neat!

Yes ..i was attracted too by the cane and for no particular reason, the binocular case on the back, my intention is to reserve a place in my collection to a very special elite , British Generals and commanders, so far i own French and 3 of the WWII (Monty..beautiful sculpt i suggest you to buy it , when his nose pops out of the box you know having bought a work of art..Alexander , at first i didn't remember his real features and so i didn't appreciate the figure, but it's nearly identical to the real (and great commander in my opinion) Alex, and then Gort (great touch the coat on the arm)..the next will be Stirling..not a general but a great figure nonetheless.

I usually look to build a scene or a diorama - pick out th figures you want to tell your story. I probally will buy slower these days than everything at once - but, after a little time you can have a great collection put together.

Here is a couple of pics of my WWI Collection :D :

Heading over to Kings X at lunch today. I am debating between Officer with a map, The KOSB Sergeant, or maybe the Kaiser.

I guess I will see when I get there.

My WW I collection consists of everything that Ron has (with the exception of the armored car). You may want to consider the marching troops. I think those are quite neat. Also, if you join the K & C Collectors Club, you can get a marching WWI german soldier.

Well, I bought the Kaiser today. I think that I am going to get all the personalities first then get the troops.

Also I was checking out the St. Petersburg Collection Age of Chivalry and those are amazing, the color is incredible. It would actually make me buy outside of the WWI series.

Great Choice on the Kaiser ! ;)

Brad is correct on the King & Country Collectors Club - they do have a WWI German figure you can get it is - CC09. The German is standing in a "at rest" pose - not Marching though.

Here is a closer look at CC09 :)
