Hi All,

Well I've been painting for a while and hopefully getting better. I tend to sell most of the stuff I paint. To finance my Toy Soldier collection which is mainly Warpark and First Legion figures Naps and WW2.

Like a lot of you guys I suspect. I am a member of several figure painter groups on face book. So you can image my surprize when two figures I had just sold on eaby, that I had completed sometime ago turned up on one of threse groups from the guy I had sold it to, even using my ebay photograph. The funny thing was that he seemed to be claiming to have painted it and even answered comments about it.

To be blunt I couldn't believe that someone could be so cheeky! Now the thing is should I comment on post? Send him a private message? Report him to the site admin? Or just let it slide?

Cheers

Gary

I've never had that happen, but I have kept all the figures I have painted or given them to friends and relatives. However, that is pretty poor form if they are your work. Probably best to send him a private message first, let him know your thoughts and give him the chance to make things right. You can always report him later.

You don't happen to have any in-progress shots of the figures you can post? I am of the opinion that you can recognize most figure painters work after a while- most people develop their own style.

I would toy with him...
send him a PM telling him you admire his skills and would he consider a commission for you...^&grin...
then...if he bites...
I would definitely report him to Ebay accompanied with that email...
claiming false advertising...

nobody would ever try that with my figure painting skills...
I suck at it...

Like you, I have seen on ebay, pictures coming from some of the figures I painted from guys selling figurines in kit form and stating " figurine in kit unpainted, actual pictures are for reference " ( never did he pretend to be the painter ) I sent him a PM and now he gives his source .
I personaly try to give my source and a minimum of basic infos when publishing a picture giving brand, size, painter and source if the picture is not mine..... and sometime I forget ... even on this forum
I will never even suggest it's painted by me if it's not .

Best
