I just finished restoring this piece I got 18 months ago. It was in terrible shape (previous owner actually tried super gluing stuff on it) and the figures were nicked up a little bit. I tried restoring in as closely as possible to its original condition while staying true to KC’s original paint style and scheme.

It looks pretty good now and I do have the original box. Here are things I’m thinking of doing with it:

1. Keep it and display it
2. Sell it as is and see if I can fetch a price at least equal to or greater than my costs
3. Repaint it in British North Africa colors and markings and man it with figures from KC’s 25 Pd. Artillery set. Then sell the US Army figures that came with it originally.

I’m leaning toward the latter, and maybe ask Alex if he might be willing to take on this project for me. I have plenty of pictures to guide him and I know it will be consistent in the KC style. This way I could either sell it or simply enjoy it along with my other KC Eighth Army collection.

What do you guys think?

:) I like the Paint Job! I was thinking about doing this myself, if I had an extra Priest! But I Repainted WS77-DAK Colors , it looks Great with Rommel inside and a Officer Pointing to the Battle! Hopefully I could Post these Pictures soon!

Carlos,
Sounds like you have a great plan for the conversion.
If you have the skill to restore this vehicle that was in bad shape, why don't you take on the conversion?
Those are great pics and with some advise and coaching from Alex you might find you have what it takes to do this yourself, have a little confidence and stretch yourself. perhaps take on a smaller repaint project to get a feel and then go for it!
I started by repainting an HJB 250 to the Rommel Grief and ended up doing that LRDG truck nearly from scratch, if i can do it so can you. ;)
Go for it!

I have always believed that if you get a figure for cheap and it is an extra in your collection - then repaint it for your scenes - that way you will get something you cant have (Desert Color M-7) and dont feel bad that you spent alot of money to change the figure.

IMO - :D

Just my opinion Carlos, but I'd go for option 3 and create something a little different. But, from what you can see in the photo, whatever work was needed to get it looking puurty again, has been very well done. Nice one.

Carlos, you really are talented.Option 3 for me too.

Rob,

thanks for the compliment but most of the expert repair and painting was accomplished on the Priest by Craig McClain, Old Toy Soldiers of San Diego and a couple of figures had minor paint chips that were repaireds by Mark Vuncannon, Build-A-Rama.

Hey Ray,

Great suggestion but I don't have the time or the patience. I wish I did. Therefore if I were to choose to convert the Priest, it would be done by a professional.

The greatest challenge in this project is how to get rid of the star insigna. It is not a decal or dry transfer. It is embossed. It needs to be flattened smooth. I am thinking of doing the same thing.
