Cannot argue with that because the only TS I have seen in the real have a slight shine too them...some very shinny and supposedly matte.....soldiers get dirty....why not paint them that way....Field soldiers ...scruffy...Parade ground soldiers ....nice and shinny......anyway that is my opinion but I do not expect to find many will agree to it.....cheers TomBWell, that's pretty much what the matte manufacturers do, isn't it. Though maybe they don't scuff 'em up as much as they could.
Prost!

Completely flat matte...no shine what so ever......would these be less expensive to produce ?....TomBView attachment 129031 Whatabout an " R " range of figure painting ?......Flat matt...no shine...dirty..grubby looking soldiers (Realistic)...no fancy painting......just a thought......TomB
Yes and No.....Yes..... I think it would be appreciated by some collectors ....No....I dont think it would happen as a extra choice .......You are correct about not introducing a new range.....current ranges would be more than acceptable I am sure if they were offered in a scuffy finish..I do not propose an expert finish costing a fortune ( " P" painting).....I know nuthing about painting so I can only surmise that matte paint is cheaper (No Shine)...smuge and painted on dirt would cover the time consuming things like buckle's...buttons lined pockets etc....and the cost would hopefully be cheaper than a standard range soldier with all the bits painted in nice expensive paint.(brass on webbing goes dull in the field and webbing get dirty...use to love coming back from the scrub and having to scrub and blanco the webbing again and polish the brass....modern soldiers do not have to do that).........a few things wrong with my idea but someone who knows what they are doing could most likely sort it out and slightly reduce the cost for mass production......worth a thought...regards TomBI don't think you're talking about a new range, then, as far as matte finish is concerned. K&C and others who produce matte figures are striving for as matte a finish as they can. But as far as realistic grime goes, that, too, depends on the maker. I don't think you're talking about a new range, just that makers could improve their figures, make them more realistic or authentic. Of course, each maker has set his own style and his own level of detail. For example, K&C has its style, which is different from First Legion. But since First Legion strives for a finish closer to connoisseur style, then I'd expect that a First Legion Desert Rat, for example, would be authentically dusty, or a WWI doughboy would reflect the mud of the trenches.
