Hi, does anyone know what happened to Italeri's 1/32 range! I can't recall any new releases from them in the last 3-4 years. The figures they were producing for the medieval crusades, and, particularly their Napoleonics were spectacular, and of very high quality. Their cavalry and horse artillery sets were particularly good. Was their 1/32 range a casualty of the 2008 financial crisis? Does anyone know whether they are planning new sets for future production? Any information would be welcome. Regards, Steve

hi Steve,

the range has been getting less this last few years. They seem to have changed the sculpture artist too and the most recent sets are bigger in stature than the earlier sets.
Maybe what goes round comes round so they may reissue sets again in the future

I think they pretty much dropped out of the 1/32 scale market. At least for now???? They were going to be releasing a set of Austrian artillery next in 1/32nd scale but they pulled the plug on it due to pour sales.
Hat,s 1/32 scale line also went the same way, they had sets all ready sculpted that were going to be released in 1/32 but they scraped the plans and just released them in 1/72 scale.
I also loved the sets that Italeri was doing. The price of the sets were getting high though and it seamed like the last couple of sets were not as well sculpted as the earlier sets, couple this with the drop in the economy and I,m sure times were not good for 1/32 sales.

I think they should at least rerelease the earlier retired sets again since they already spent the money on the molds. Half the old sets are all retired now and those sets look much better then the last couple they relesed. The naploeonic cavalry sets were great but very hard to find these days.

The Italeri French Hussars are gems. Brown horses and light blue figures. These are great for non-painters.

That is also one of my favorite sets also!^&cool Great sculpting and these guys can be converted to many other nations troops also because the Hussar uniform was pretty much the same from country to country. I wonder how many got shot by there own troops because they were not sure which side thet were on???

This set is now retired.
I bought about 20 plus boxes on Ebay at $7.99 just after they retired. More for the horses then the figures. The dragons teeth sadles were used by many napoleonic cavalry troops and they did a great job sculpting these horses!^&cool
I have converted these horses to many other poses. This is a great all around set that they should really re-release. The Dragoon set should also have never been retired either.

Lets just hope we see more sets like this in the future??? I would have liked to have seen that Austrian artillery set. I believe they were talking about a limber set to follow as well for it. That would have been great!

I agree - good sets but mainly for the hussars horses - I used many for French Line Lancers that I made from Helmet Soldiers kits

the moulds have probably been placed in storage - maybe when the markets increase again they will reissue these early kits

Thanks guys for the information update on Italeri {sm3} Those Austrian Artillery sets fish would have been a great addition to their infantry, and a limbered set would have been terrific! I still occasionally see the odd box of French Line/Guard Artillery Limbers or French Guard Artillery Howitzer with Limber when I travel out-of-town. I suppose they can be converted, but I they're hard plastic which would probably be quite difficult. Yeah 9th, like you, I too had been wondering about the a change in sculture artist. One of their last medieval sets, Arab Warriors, had horses so big that there was only 4 mounted figures per pack, as opposed to the usual 8. Scott, I too really appreciate when they produce the horses and mounts in the appropriate colours (rather than all beige). And, as with all of you, I really think nobody did cavalry like Italeri for realism and visual impact. Also their choose of 4 horse-poses for some sets, was a real bonus. Among my favourites were the French Hussars, and the British Light Dragoons. Here's hoping there will be a reissue sometime soon, and if I'm lucky, the Austrian Artillery sets ^&grin Steve
