Hey Guys,
Can you recommend a good shade for the green of french artillery and train, don't really like to mix much, would love a bottle or tube straight up.
Ray

Ray: Humbrol enamels make a French Artillery green in a tin. This is a flat color. John I did not see the color listed under Michtoy. Maybe they discountinued that color even though it was popular.

I could not find the color in the new lists but maybe some hobby shops still have some in stock. Squadron shop has none listed. I think a medium green and highlights would work. Is this for Napoleonic artillery and wagons?

Thanks John but I've got to tell you the Humbrol tins are pretty hard to find these in the USA, but I'll do some digging.

Hi,

The Humbrol colour you are wanting : French Artillery Green is no longer produced :(

I have a tin, about 20 years old, so I used that as a guide for a more modern colour from their range and the best match is #159 Khaki Drab, so thats what I now use because I do not mix my paints, I only use the best match available just in case I want to paint more of the same at a later stage.

According to the OSPREY Men At Arms book #96 "Artillery Equipments of the Napoleonic Wars" the colour scheme for France is Olive Green, but it expands that to statement to say it is made by mixng 2.500 grammes of yellow ochre to 30 grammes of black..... try that ???????

Hobby Bunker has Humbrol paints but no arty green. Some humbrol colors that might work:

HU-86 Light Olive
HU-102 Matt Army Green
HU-120 Matt light green

Thanks guys, I googled and found out they no longer produce it, I consulted some color cross reference charts on line and didn't really find any that fit.
Finally I have e-mailed Vallejo direct and asked what they recommend.
I'll let you know what I find out, kinda suprised no one seems to have anything specific, I would have thought there would be some kind of market?

I used Vallejo Grey-Green on my french guns that worked for me.

I emailed Vellejo and here's what I got back from them:
