Was just wondering what might come next from this excellant range. Can any of you experts out there tell me which examples of armour not yet produced by Andy could come next from this series.

Winterised Panzer IV's?

I think they may be quite popular :)

Very good idea James,it seems to be one of the most requested vehicles of all.Do you remember a while back that different coloured Hetzer Andys brother painted?.I wonder if that was 'Bulge' camo.

Rob

As for German stuff, yes the Pz IV late variants were quite common in the Ardennes, along with Hetzers, StuGs, Panthers, Panzerjager IV variants.

On the US size, there were many common vehicles - Shermans, such as the M4, M4 105mm Howitzer, M4A1, M4A1 76mm Wet Stowage, M4A3 75mm Wet Stowage, M4A3 76mm Wet Stowage, M4A3 105mm Howitzer, M4A3E2 "Jumbo" assault tank, and a few M4A3E8 (with more arriving in 1945). The light tanks were M5A1s with a few early M24s coming for the Bulge battle and some more arriving for the counterattacks in 1945. The armored cars were still M8s, with some M20s (mostly in TD units). SP artillery was based on the M7 and M7B1 "Priest", the M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage, and a few M12s. AT guns were 57mm, with some 3" guns in towed TD units. TDs were M18, M10, M36. Lots of halftracks including M2A1, M3A1, plus mortar carriers, and AAA vehicles - M16, M16B, and M15A1. Towed artillery included 75mm Pack Howitzer, 105mm M2-series, 105mm M3 (infantry cannon companies and airborne units), 4.5", 155 howitzer, 155 gun, 8" howitzer, as well as the big 8" gun and 240mm howitzer and 4.2" Chemical Mortar.

Lots of opportunities for new stuff out there!

Thanks Gary, thats interesting. So we could still get a 'Priest' in the mix then.I'm sure that would be popular with many collectors without doubt.I like the look of the M36 with its 90mm gun, sounds like it was a match for the German tanks and would even up the balance of armour a bit.The M24 Chaffee also looks an interesting tank, don't know if you agree Gary but a 75mm gun seems quite a punch for a light tank?.I have book by George forty in which he describes the M24 as without doubt the best light tank of the war.

Thanks again Gary,i always find your posts most helpful.

The original ambush scheme Hetzer is definately Bulge camo. Not sure about the green one though. Anything goes when it comes to late war camouflage.

Some good US suggestions there from Binder. I guess there's no shortage of vehicles for K&C to keep the range going.

Back with German how about a Jagdpanzer and Jagdtiger?

I would like a Jagdtiger very much, but i have an idea Andy said a long while ago he didn't like the vehicle.I must say i thought that second Hetzer camo beter than the first. The Jagdpanzer would be another cool release, am i right in thinking it replaced the StugIII?.

Rob

I'd imagine a jagdtiger might see the light of day at some point hopefully.

Yeah i was thinking of the Jagdpanzer IV the one that Gary mentioned as being based on a Panzer IV chassis. I have a Dragon Armor1/72 version and it's an interesting looking vehicle.

Have you seen the Jagdtiger at Bovington.Wonderfully huge beast, imagine going to all the trouble to make these monsters and then having no fuel to run them!:rolleyes:Would make a stunning addition to any collection.

I think the Jagdpanthers,Stugs,Jagdpanzers Hetzers etc give such a scope and depth that we could be getting variants for years!

Rob

I've never been to Bovington. It's on my list of places I would like to visit. :)

Me neither,we are having our first trip there later this summer.(if it stops raining!)I have the dvd series 'Tanks' and Bovingtons Jagdtiger is featured in it.Actually it shows how old the series is,the Tiger that is now in full working order is still in bits in this series!.Wonderful series though with contributions from David fletcher, curator at the museum and author of several Osprey books.

Yes, but is there anyone who really knows their armour out there? :p

Gary, your knoledge on all things tracked never cceases to amaze me. Thanks for the info.
I know they've both been done before, but two of my favourite vehicles of WWII vintage, are the M16 and M24. Both are now commanding silly money, so a re-release would be very nice.

:) A ELEPHANT,--- JADGTIGER,----PANZER IV ( WINTER) /SSCAMOUFLAGE, WESPE, -- MARDERII/IIIM----HANOMAG( Troop Transport),----OPEL MAULTIER( Halftrack)-Truck----RSO-Raupenschlepper?SIG 33 -Small Field Howitzer(DAK/WINTER)---150mm-(HEAVY) Field Howitzer!

Brad,i can understand why you moved this thread but it has not turned out as i thought.I orginally intended to ask about what might come next and what was used in that theatre of war.I did not intend it to be a 'i want' list.I only say all this because i do not want to be seen as constantly bombarding Andy with requests. And it must be possible to differentiate between 'i wonder' and 'i want'.With the Greatest respect to Johns last post, its a shame this has turned into 'i want' because i was enjoying Gary's/James posts and gauging what people thought may come next.

I'm not knocking all 'i want' posts because of course i do it myself, its just that this thread was an attempt at conversation and not a Xmas list :)

Can anyone tell me if the Elephant was used in any numbers at the Bulge?.

Rob

Only got reference books available, but they indicate that they were used in Kursk '43 and in Italy 43-44. They don't make any reference to them being used at the Bulge. Don't know if Gary or anyone else can confirm?

Not that I ever read about. They are not listed as being part of any Division / Rgt. that was at the Bulge. The Elefant, Hummel and Nashorn were Eastern front.

The book Wehrmacht Panzer Division 1939 - 1945 is a book I'd recommend.

Thanks guys. When i came to think about it i'd never seen a pic or film of them at the Bulge so i was doubtful.

Rob

I would like to see a bit of diorama like the Build-a-rama one which has a fox hole in it!!!!:D:confused::cool::eek::)
