What's to come in the Zulu Series? (1 Viewer)

According to the TF Rivet and Richard Walker we will see some "WOW' pieces in the Zulu and American Civil War series that are sure to knock our socks off.

Anybody know what's yet to come in the Zulu series?

iSandlwana characters I would suspect. I think there has been a fair amount of clamour for the rocket battery, so what people want often people receive.

Personally I would like to see more hand to hand sets but for iSandlwana. Maybe a bit of 2 on 1 action!

I think once they have finished the Kraal at Rorke Drift - they have the first 2 hand to hand sets (including modelzone) and they have said in the latest catalogue they are going to make sure they have the corner pieces and gate etc. Also I believe Ken said there would likely be a couple more hand to hand sets for the kraal in the works too.

I agree they will likely shift back to isandlwana either congreve rocket battery or some of the mounted troops.

WBritains is more historical than some of the others aka conte and little legions so that narrows the search somewhat. I doubt they would ever do the command wagon for Lord Chelmsford or the bullet from birmingham concept aka little legions

One darkhorse idea if they did rorke drfit again would be the pont or ferry concept....

You've hit the nail on the head re Conte. The Michael Caine and Stanley Baker characters (in my opinion) really let that series down. They're more comic book style. I think the research and accuracy WB put into this range is wonderful.

The MacKinnon & Shadbolt book is an excellent reference for photographs of the various officers so I'm still holding out for the likes of Younghusband & Pope especially the former flashing his sword in defiance.

It is regarded by many that the stand made by Anstey and approximately 60 men was the last substantial concentration of men to be overrun. Perhaps he deserves to be portrayed also.

Finally, backdrops would be a welcome addition. Having walked the fugitives trail it was amazing how much the appearance of iSandlwana alters when viewing it from N, S, E & W. I think backdrops from all these aspects would be fantastic. Plus a backdrop with the rockface immediately behind would allow for a Younghusband diorama too. And maybe one with Black's Koppie in the background for any Durnford dioramas.

Isandwana as far as both the figures of Conte's General Son and the Royal Engineer Officer featured pointing to the south wall they're far from comical although the their facial features may resemble Michael Caine and Stanley Baker. They've given me the ability to feature them both historically an in creating scences from the movie Zulu. Although a big fan of William Britain they are many historical errors that have been made while creating the series. When it comes to Little Legion they to date although in glossy have provided the collector with a vast selection of figures and sets featuring both British and Colonial units............The Lt.

I'd like to view this extensive list of inaccuracies compared to those of Conte. Mr Knight thinks they've done a decent enough job and I for one can overlook anything John Young tells you. It is widely known in AZW circles that Mr Young will always, wherever possible, have a contrary opinion to Mr Knight on many things. I know which one I prefer to listen to and respect more. That man has a chip, the size of a small country, on his shoulder.

Gentlemen - The Lt. and Isandlwana have been strong supporters of W. Britain and I thank you both sincerely for that. Joe was a driving force in getting the range going and keeping the interest up. As many of you know, I am always more than willing to own up to mistakes and fully admit we have made some from time to time. I would ask we draw a line under the recent postings here and now with enough said. One of the things I enjoy about the W. Britain part of the forum is the civility. We all get excited - heck I say things I regret (almost every day to my wife...though I am not sure what I said...until it is too late...if you know what I mean...) and appreciate the kind support and comments from all, so can I just ask that we keep it positive and when I make a mistake by all means call me out on it and I will address it and move on. Okay, finis, please.

So, moving on, where else can we go with Zulu? I just spent a couple hours on research and briefings for this range in 2013 - so this is very topical, and I can honestly say you all are close....but not quite there.....

mmm..

Richard-
You better not make any ships- because if you do, I will have no choice but to buy them{sm4}!

P.S. Will you be at Jim Hilestad's next week? I will be there latter int the day. I am really looking forward to seeing you and Jim for the first time in around 5 years- warning: I'm bald now, a bit taller, and I am wearing a uniform.

Just out of interest, have Modelzone commissioned anymore sets for next year? I'm not fishing for what they have asked for, just whether they have commissioned say 1, 2 or 3 new sets?

Hopefully the iNgobamakhosi will be making a appearance!

ModelZone have indeed comissioned another set which Ken is already at work on. We are working with them to insure better service from them to our US and ROW customers before the details are announced.

I know, we need to do more iNgobamakhosi....
