The Wheel of Time was a fourteen book fantasy series, mostly written by Robert Jordan but finished by Brandon Sanderson. It is an epic adventure featuring a HOST of characters engaging in a good vs evil story. It is primarily set in a medieval world, with elements of other cultures like the Zulus. There is quite a bit of magic, which I don't usually care for but it worked well in the way it was done here. It took me a couple of books to get into it, then it was excellent! Before meandering for a few volumes but finishing strongly. There were some epic battles and good political intrigues contributing to a fascinating read all up.
The TV show has left me bemused though. There are the key characters but too much has been cut, or rushed through. There are different characters and new developments. I've watched it because it's so different overall that I haven't known what's going to happen next. Not that it's got me very enthused. It's just not very compelling. There have been some good elements and I'm happy to see a fantasy show of this scale, it's just not what it could be.
Anyone else come across it?
