I just saw the picture of the new honour bound waffen ss, great looking figures, well done both sculpting and color,BUT.... is it just me or, man not another waffen SS set! I know there popular but with so many great possible subjects I think unless you come up with something original, I'll have to stay away from another set? do you hear me or is it just a stray personal opinion?
whats yours?

Re: When do you say too much???

Unfortunately, the perception among manufacturers is that Waffen SS subjects are the most commercial i.e. will sell the best. Besides the first releases of Honour Bound and New Model Army being Waffen SS subjects, all the manufacturers doing WWII European Theater in 1/32 scale (Conte, ONWTC, Britains and Frontline) produce mostly Waffen SS figures as the German opposition.:(

nmrocks,

I know what you mean but until new Wehrmacht sets come out I guess I'll keep on buying soldiers of "the Dark Side" (the SS).

Truly I'd love to see several sets of gray uniformed Wehrmacht Army, just like in "Combat". Heck the few Wehrmacht sets I've seen among the manufacturers are wearing green color uniforms. I'm sure there is a reason for that.

Ok I'm not totally against the SS figure but, at least 4 original poses, the officer shouting over his shoulder is original and I like it but another "foot Patrol"? I got the New Model Army motar crew because it was original posing, if it had been another "foot Patrol" I believe I would have passed.

I think its original just being from Honour Bound. The sculpting, colors and faces are very distinct.

I would like to see more of the German Wehrmacht figures. More of the 1940's style like in the WS38 to WS46 sets. I think they look great and wish there were more. I would also like to see some more US 3rd ID and some Big Red One's. Combat engineers and their equipment would be really cool. More German and Allied self propelled artillery. My wish list is long and extensive. I know they can not produce it all, but what the heck, never ask, the answer is always no. Still, if more SS are on the way, I'll get them too.

Perhaps I should take up pouring my own figures and painting them, but my talents are horrible when it comes to that kind of thing. Michael

I, too, would prefer to see more of the Wermacht but until we do we have some very fine figures to choose from.

Michael,

Oh how I agree with you, especially the US and German SP's and maybe even the Canadein/ British Sexton SP. Who knows, maybe someday we'll be happly surprised.

Not even out of the gate yet and we have problems?
SS will sell because they have miles of camo variations,{rule of thumb for ss , they should be almost as varied in appearance as ACW Rebs, lots of variations in the same formations} and I think that simply sells better than Feld Grau,Plus more heavily armed .Same arguement as the casualty figures in reverse I am thinking. They do them cuz they SELL.
I like cam, I'd be happy to see some German Heer wearing their Zeilthbhans/poncho's in the splinter pattern.

I'm with the guys that say there is too much Waffen SS stuff.
I liked the NMA set because it was different piece. But I already have K&C SS on patrol so the new Honour Bound figures don't interest me all that much.

I know Waffen SS are popular because of their camo but to my mind the Fallschirmjager are equally as interesting and I would like to see more of them.

Though it seems Britains and NMA look to be fulfilling my wishes in the near future.

From what I have read and heard, I think many Dragon 1/35 scale fans are feeling the same way about the extensive (to say the least) line of German kits the company produces. By now I wouldn't be surprised if a set of Hitler's housekeeping staff is released. I don't mind diversity, but it kind of stings when I know other themes are being overlooked.
