I never heard of or saw this excellent TV movie until I saw it on HBO ON-Demand this weekend. It is about the battle of Hurtgen Forest in the border of Belgium, late WWII. The main character is played by Ron Eldard, who played Durant in Black Hawk Down. If you like films like Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan you will also like this one I think. Also like those films the violence is very realistic and brutal - rated R. I am really surprised I never heard of this film before considering it is so well done. I am not sure how accurate the events in this film are compared to the real battle, but this is certainly a very well done film.

Saw this many years ago (15 or so) and thought it very good. If I remember correctly it is an HBO original production. I thought the most memorable character in the show was the C.O., played by Dwight Yokum. He was a real jerk. -- Al

Thanks for posting this Walt, I saw it many years ago when they first showed it on HBO, haven't seen it since, watched it again last night.

A gritty, realistic story about the slaughter known as the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest, 24,000 casualties, they didn't call it the meatgrinder for nothing.

Talbot was one of the paratroopers at the bridge in SPR, the medic was from Pulp Fiction (SAY WHAT AGAIN!!)........................
