How do these look? I think the longer hair mat looks better myself, but how did the short hair mat come out?, does it look alright? Should I make it darker? or stick to the longer hair and give up on this shorter style fur? I,m still messing around on these and need to do a lot of fine tuning. These are only the first couple I,ve tried.
The mats are side by side with the long fur in the back of the wall and the short out front. I like the fact that the longer fur hides the base of the figures better.

I like them both...but they clearly each represent a different kind of terrain. Both work..in fact..really well. Congrats!

hehehehe...

I knew you couldn't resist...

you already know which one I like...

but both look good...

especially the first one you made...

I'll tell you what I like about the short one...you have those furrows that you often get when the wind is blowing...it looks very realistic...I like it.

I just wanted to get some feedback to fine tune.
Keep me posted on your progress, and how many PMs you get asking you instead of me on how to do these!!!:p

You are the master of many projects.Castles, trees, water redoubts, now mats. What's next for the master.:D
Mark

Chris...

you were the one that really got me started on this...

when I saw the ones you made...

it inspired me to dig deeper...

Fish...

this was the black one...

I think it needs a trim...

plus a lighter color....

but I kind of like it dark too...

but definitely a little "whispy" and overgrown...

I,ve been messing around again and did two bigger matts! How do these look and which one looks better? They were both still a bit tacky so I couldn,t do much with them yet other then grab the closest figure to throw on there for scale. here they are.

No its not 2 mats joined together just one real big one and yes that was a lot of trimming!:p
They are are both pretty big mats, The green one is like 5ftx5ft and the dead grass one is 4ftx5ft. I kinda like the dead grass look myself, I think its more realistic for a big open field.
Hows yours coming along Mike?

Yea...the "wheatish" looking one is really nice too...

I'm waiting on my "robocut"...hehehehe

Some very impressive work here, makes me want to get trying something like this myself as to buy the sizes I need for my display board is going to set me back over £120.00 which could be spent on bolstering troops!

Tim and Mike,

I'm sure you posted it somewhere (..or maybe not!) but how do you make these mats? They are brilliant, and I would love to try this myself. Thanks.

I like the one with the "dead grass look" as well, but all your mats look great.:cool:
