If you could only attend one major show for the year which would it be?

I have never been to Westcoaster, Chicago, NJ, Texas, etc - which should I come to next time?

Chicago. Hands down. If you get there on Thursday, you have three days of room trading, make tons of new friends, meet Andy, Rick Wang of Figarti, others movers and shakers and find lots of Russian pieces. As Andy has said, it's eating, thinking and talking about toy soldiers for four days straight. You will have one of the best times ever and your only problem is how you will get so much stuff onto the airplane.

Brad ,

I am planning on going again to the Chicago Show this year...Was my first time back in 12 years...I brought my wife & six year old daughter on the Sunday...My daughter had a good time...Howard told me you were up there but without name tag's , I don't know who the forum members are...This year I plan on getting a room for Saturday , maybe a few of us can get together & have a drink ? {sm4}

Joe, that would be great. By Sunday, I'm usually tired out, not to mention out of money, so I stay for a couple of hours on the actual date of the Show and then head for the Airport.

Sounds like this is the place for me!

I'm going to have to make this work next time around and start saving now! (yeah right!)

Oh no! This is very dangerous for me!!!! Nothing to hold me back now!

"As the show draws to a close at 3:30, UPS has a booth set up for homebound shipping"

Zach,
Chicago is hands down the best show in the states, you get the best of both worlds as far as room trading and the actual show.

A close second is Hackensack in New Jersey, a huge show in the fieldhouse at FDU, you can come down the night before, stay at a hotel in the area, do the show and be back in MA by 5:00PM or so.

Not to mention our two local Boston shows in Woburn MA in April and October.....................

Hmmm. I think I am seeing votes from folks who have never attended the West Coaster, but as someone who has attended 22 West Coasters and 15 Chicago Shows, I cannot disagree with Chicago as being the one you should attend. It is the largest and the best. However, that being said, while many of you were suffering through a brutal winter, it was 80 degrees at last Sunday's West Coaster. So, that is something to consider. Remember this fact too: King & Country always is present at the West Coaster (along with Britains, Collectors Showcase, Figarti, Frontline, etc.). The same cannot be said about some of the other shows.

I haven't attended any of the other shows, but I know that the Chicago Show is good to visit, especially with a couple days of room trading and "hanging out" with a whole lot Toy Soldier people ^&grin :wink2:
Don't think you will regret it.

The Texas Show is the one to keep an eye on. Since KingsX took over running the show in 2012 it has continued to grow each year. Usually 100 + dealers set up so there is plenty to see and Buy ^&grin The Host Hotel "The Menger" has
a really great room rate for the event. $125.00 per night with free parking and an awesome Breakfast buffet included which has everything under the sun. Add in being right there in the heart of San Antonio you can park your car at the Menger and leave it there for the remainder of the weekend. Everything is within walking distance ! An added bonus KingsX is right there in the first floor of the Menger. Go out the front doors of the Hotel, take a right and go down
300 meters and there sits the Alamo ! If you exit the Hotel and head straight through Alamo plaza the River walk with its Restaurants and bars lies just a stones throw away. Need to go shopping, the 3 level shopping mall is a 2 minute
stroll away. This year will be my 3rd in a row and plan on staying 3 nights this coming Memorial Day weekend !

The WC is the other I want to attend. Although not as big as Chicago, can't disagree with Mike. Can't beat the weather either; today is gorgeous in Laguna. Getting a nice tan.

I should have mentioned in my earlier post that, like Chicago, the West Coaster has pre-show room trading. Many other shows do not. This year there were 42 room vendors open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Not as many as in the good old days, but still enough to be interesting. I didn't hear what the attendance figures were for the show on Sunday, but I do know that all 182 available tables were sold out. My guess on attendance would be somewhere between 500 and 750. Today, I wish I was in Laguna Beach where Brad is staying; it is an uncomfortable, hot 90 degrees today in Diamond Bar.

I go to the OTSN Show in Chicago every year, and to me it is far and away the show that you simply can't miss. I had the opportunity to go to the London Show last June, and while not quite the equal of the Chicago Show, I believe the London Show might be my number 2. I have not yet gotten to a Westcoaster, but they sound pretty great as well.
