I'm looking to purchase some vehicles for my self painted WWII Conte G.I.'s. and Germans.
What manufacturer fits the best in size? All opinions and comments are appreciated.
Thanks, Bill

I would use 21st Century. You should be able to find pretty much what you need on ebay.

I'd go with FOV, much easier to find, 21st Century is out of business and some of their vehicles are pricy in the aftermarket.

Go to a toy soldier show and see dealers all bashing each other over the heads with folding chairs trying to sell FOV to the customers 5.00 less than the next guy, it's loads of fun..................I remember at the Secaucus New Jersey show couple of years ago the guy next to me had a wall of FOV vehicles 8 feet high on his table (here's a hint for you novice dealers out there; break down and buy a second table, it's a lot easier to work from behind two tables than one unless the extra 40.00 blows your whole profit margin) and was selling them for half price, 40.00ea instead of 80.00ea, collectors were shoving each other out of the way to get at his stock.

He sold all of them and when the dust settled, I asked him why he was selling them so cheap, he said his wife was on his case to get rid of them all, he took a 30.00 hit on each one as he paid 70.00 each for them.

I guess he was making it up in volume.............:rolleyes2:

Thanks Gary. Are 21st C closer in scale than FOV? Bill

In my mind both FOV & 21st are the same scale. Like George said FOV might be more avaiable now. I mix and match my FOV & 21st all the time.
Other than shows some FOV are available in hobby shops also.

Thanks for the responses. I guess it would be wise to find out when some area toy shows are. Bill

I will try to check this one out. Sounds like a big show. Is it? How many dealers or tables usually?

Third biggest on the East Coast behind Hackensack and Valley Forge from what the promoter tells me, it's good show for me dealerwise, ie, $$$$$$$$$$wise............

I have purchased both 21st Cent. and FOV. I prefer FOV due to detail and mainly diecast vs plastic. Britains, Conte, and best of all ONTC tank men and riders fit just right with FOV.

Bill I've got a small collection of 21st Century 1/32 for sale. If you would like a list with prices shoot me a PM with an email address. Gary and George will vouch for me...hopefully!!!!:smile2:

1) Both FoV and 21C were about the same scale. Technically it's 1/32nd, which should be a true SCALE versus "54mm size" listed for figures. The Conte GIs are a tad larger than true 1/32nd scale, but look fine with those vehicles.

2) As far as "which manufacturer?" That can depend on what vehicles you want. Both outfits have produced Shermans, Panthers and King Tigers. 21C Did their Chaffee before FoV, 21C produced the Sherman with dozer blade, FoV has made more trucks, and on and on. Some guys love the diecast metal vehicles for weight, but I detest that material because I love to customize - give me plastic any day! 21C vehicles were designed for "play" so they tend to have more opening hatches or doors, but their hinges are HUGE.
